NextCard ripoff, Major increase in balance last year nearly $9000.00 for no reason fraudulent ripoff business Phoenix Arizona
I started a Nextcard Visa account in 2000 and was fairly happy with things until I stopped receiving statements in early 2002.
I was originally told that I could download the information over the web, but that did not work as promised. All throught the late Spring and early summer of 2002 I made repeated requests for statements. I eventually decided to dumpt the card and made a $3500 payment that brought me within $800 of closing the account.
I made payments in June and July (200 each). I made these payments over the web, but was unable to view my bill and so I was kind of driving blind.
I finally was able to locate a screen that indicated that my balance (should have been under $5000 before my large payment) had now become and almost $10,000 balance!!
I called again and spoke to Nextcard rep you promised me she would get to the bottom of the issue. The next thing I received was note indicating that Next Crad had gone out of business.
I continued to make oayments through a new website but followed up each time warning that in November 2002 I was going to stop paying because to the best of my ability, that should have finalized my obligation.
I recived no response and terminated the payments in November. I started recieving harrasing calls day and night at work and home and on my cel-phone from people that told me they could care less if the amount was wrong, I "would pay or else".
When I asked what that meant they said they would "ruin my credit and contact my employer". One of the individuals claimed to be associated with a "law-enforcement arm" of NCO that exchanges data with Federal Law-Enforcement agencies!
They continue to hound me even after all the calls and letters. The bottom line is this. My records show that at this point I am over/under paid by approx 40$ or 50$.
They have promised on several occasions to supply me with the invoice copies and to dat I have received nothing. I am reaching the end of my rope and am not sure how much more of this I can take.
