My APR through Nextcard was 12.99%. I have never been late or missed a bill in the entire time I have held a credit card. When I moved I changed my address with Nextcard many weeks in advance. However, after I moved they conveniently sent the statement to the old address. As a result, late charges were applied and my interest rate jumped to 19.99%.

A customer service agent called me about the late bill and I then realized what had happened (not to mention that I had had a baby 2 weeks prior)! The customer service agent found the problem, being that the statement was sent to the old address and a day after being sent the address was changed in their computer system to the current address, and he took off the late charges. I was led to believe that it was a misunderstanding and that everything was grand. The next bill came and my finance charges were huge. I looked at the interest rate and saw that it had gone up without my knowledge. I again contacted customer service. This time, however,the female representative told me that there was nothing she could do for me... that the first rep took off the late charges as a "courtesy". She also informed me that the only way that I could lower my interest rate would be to transfer my balance to another card.

After this scenario I thought that I would try to pay off what I could and then transfer the balance at a later date. Then I looked at the calendar and realized that I had yet to receive a Nextcard statement. I check the website and found that the account was again overdue. But how? I had not moved. I have checked my mail everyday. I am a stay-at-home mom... so I ALWAYS get the mail. What went wrong?

I was unable to find out if the card company has again raised my rates. It was actualy extremely hard to find a customer service number. And onlyminimal info is given on the website... my minimum payment rising, being one of them!

I am outraged and I feel as if calling them will do no help. I am sitting here feeling completely helpless, and at the same time getting more mad as the minutes pass. I hope their is something that can be done!
