I hired National Moving to move my furniture and belongings from Texas to Kentucky. After giving them a detailed list of my furniture, and adding approximately 40 boxes, they gave me an estimate of 6000 pounds (basically the sames as four other companies) which they would move for $2475.00. I paid a deposit of $825.00 by credit card.

The movers (who spoke English only when it was convenient for them) arrived late, spent hours re-packing my belongings even though I asked them not to, and spent quite a bit of time trying to convince me to donate my Jeep Cherokee to the(for free). They charged me $795.00 for this packing. After they loaded the furniture, they told me that I had much more than 6000 pounds and they would like to "estimate" the weight at 11,000 lbs., to save them a trip to the scales. I looked at the half full Ryder truck and told them to go and get an actual weight. They were to call back with the weight - they never called.

I spent the next two days on the road and managed to contact National Moving when I arrived in Ky. They told me the move would now cost more (in fact, more than I had). I ended up buying a bed, TV, and chair to get by for a couple of weeks.

I then spent the next two weeks trying to get an actual price to bail my furniture out of their truck, and trying to get a real delivery date. The price changed frequently. The final price I paid was $5441.65. The movers (now using Camel Moving as their name) were due here Friday, March 8,2002. They arrived at 3:30 AM, Sunday the 10th. At that point they informed that there would be an additional charge to unload the furniture and move it into the house. I must admit, that I lost my temper at that point. I did not fall for their continued attempts at extortion, and they piled all my belongings into the garage. I also refused to sign their delivery form until I had an opportunity to check my delivery for completeness and breakage (they had talked me into taking out the "real" insurance).

Well, all my things did not arrive. Several items are broken or marred. National Moving now claims no resposibility for any problems, missing items, etc. "Please be advised that National Moving Network cannot assume accountability" was my last e-mail message from National Moving's Director.
