Last March 2005 I received a travel certificate from MVI Marketing/Mini Vacations, Inc. for a seven night cruise. In April 2005 I made arrangements for a March 2006 cruise and authorized MVI to draft my credit card for a $500 deposit. This amount was put on my cruise account. In November 2005 I again authorized MVI to draft my credit card for $1,023.88 for my final payment on the cruise however, they did not apply this to my cruise account.

I just found out Saturday February 11, from Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines that I had this balance on my account. They would not tell me the amount since I had to go through MVI (my travel agent) to get this information. My husband spent all day Monday, February 13, trying to contact them only to get a recording saying all their representatives were busy and to call again. I called another number when I got home and a person answered, "Sensational" or "Sunsational" Vacations. I inquired as to what happened to MVI and learned that MVI went out of business about a week ago. I don't know if this company had any affliation with MVI or not.

I called Royal Caribbean and informed them of this. Royal Caribbean said they were just being notified that MVI had gone out of business as well. They said MVI had only paid $500 on my cruise account and no more. In order for me to go on my scheduled cruise, leaving March 11, 2006, I would have to pay the final payment AGAIN and seek other action against MVI in order to get my money back. Since I already had non-refundable airline tickets and hotel reservations I had no choice but to pay again.

I have mailed information to the Florida Attorney General and the The Division of Consumer Services for Florida. Of course, I immediately contacted my credit card company and they are starting an investigation. I also have copies of all my correspondence with MVI, my credit card company, and Royal Caribbean. This flim flam organization needs to be shut down for good and prohibited from preying on well intentioned people. Anyone affliated with this group, starting with the President of the company, need to be put underneath the jail to rot. I don't see how those customer service people can sleep at night knowing that they were ripping people off. I guess that's what makes a great con artist. I will not be happy with anything less than the restitution of my full $1,023.88.
