Went to Midwest eye consultant due to the fact that they accepted my insurance. I have two types of coverage. When I went in to make an appointment the receptionist to told me I would have a $10.00 co-pay for a medical exam due to the fact I have Diabetes . The test was the same as a regular eye exam except the took a picture of my eyes. As I checked out, they told me I had a $45.00 co-pay. I told them that is not what I was told. Then the lady who made the appointment. Said, “I am sorry but I didn’t tell you that” the cashier said I will just bill you. I was also told I would have to come in for an eye exam to be fitted for glasses. For the eye exam I would only have a $10.00 co-pay.

I came two days later for the eye exam and they did the same tests again “without the pictures of my eyes”. I wanted contacts and glasses. They sat me down. To pick out glasses and get the contacts. I chose one set of glasses and a pair of sun glasses. After what my insurance would pay, my total was $79.00 out of pocket. When they started with contacts, I was told out of pocket would be $590.00. I told them I would not pay that amount. The staff member went in to see the doctor and came back ock out with a different type of contact. She told me that for a 3 month supple would be only $2.00 out of pocket. I have been buying contacts for r yard at Walmart and for a six month supple that included a extra box of contacts and my cost of f out of pocket of $49.00. Anyway due to Walmart not taking my insurance I agreeed to the $2.00 out of pocket. Was I started to leave I was told I owe $79.00 co-pay. I said wait a minute, I was told I only was to pay the $10.00 co-pay, they did drop the $79.00 co- pay and only had to pay the $10.00. I was ok with that. I was told it would ld be one week for the trial par and the glasses would be two weeks. I was ok with that.

It told three weeks for one pair of glasses to come in. The second pair had not arrived. Another week came by before the second pair came in. When the second pair came in I was told that the insurance didn’t pay the $45.00. I told the lady that I got the same eye exam twice except for the pictures of the eyes. The lady said the pictures had to be taken so I could be fitted with eye glasses. I said that was no since, I had never had that done before to have glasses. As I want checki out, over heard the the cashier telling another patient who complained about being billed $45.00 and they told him it was due to the medical exam when he only had a $10.00 co-pay. Anyway, the contacts s did come in and I left. When I came back, to order the month supple of contacts, they told me that they can’t order a 3 month supple it hat had to be a six month supple. That cost would be $195.00. I said no. So they told me they would have the manager call me because she was not in that day. Got the call and the manager told me that if I wanted contacts it would be $195.00. I told her to forget it and I would never would return. She said that is your choose. I was told one Lie after another. And I believe they are trying to milk you for every dime they can get. I have Humana eye coverage though Medicare and aps for coverage. After what I paid, both of my my insurances paid over $1200.00 not including the contacts. I have never been treated this way in the past. Never. I. Feel they are taking advantage of us senior Citizens.
