Here is my story. I took my 2008 Nissan Titan to Midway Nissan. The hood release was failing to operate and release hood. The service writer was very nice upon dropping the vehicle off.



Later that day the service writer contacted me and informed me that debris was behind latch causing latch to stick. He then proceeded to instruct me that wire was damaged and the recommended replacing wire for hood latch.



When I arrived at the dealership I asked my service writer how the cable and wire were damaged and why warranty would not cover it. He could not tell me why cable and wire were damaged and instructed me that i need to sign the paperwork stating it was previously damaged. I informed him I would not sign paperwork and would need my vehicle returned to me. The service writer refused to give my vehicle back without signing. He made an excuse that it verified they delivered the truck to me.



I contacted phoenix police department to meet me at dealership which they could not do until the next day. I arrived at dealership with officer and instructed the service manger that officer would verify delivery of vehicle. The service manger  tried to tell me that I had to sign paperwork. I offered to sign paperwork stating I'm accepting delivery of vehicle minus the thing about previous damage to cable. The service manager tried to say that deal was not on the table. The phoenix police officer finally had to threaten him with arresting him to get the keys turned over. The officer explained to him they did not have the right to hold my vehicle if I do not owe them any money.



I would be very careful about taking any vehicle to this service department. I'm sure they damage things all the time and then have you sign paperwork stating you damaged it or it was previously damaged some how.
