Hi,

My name it's M and I'm from Las Vegas/Nevada... The hole issue started when my brand new 2009 bass boast engine Mercury Optimax 250 Pro XS with only 12 hours on it, got the alarm going off... It did not stopped, and every single time when I start the engine the alarm goes off after few seconds... I went back to one of the Mercury Rep here in Nevada, and been told that my alternator does not charge... Well they ordered one from the manufacture and suppose to be replaced in order to fix the problem... It appear that I was sckeptic little more about it and I went to a different dealer and found out that the previous diagnosis was not the right one which generate the alarm to go off, and the next dealer told me that my engine alternator it ok, but the real issue will be one harness cable Assy with a 100 A fuse on it.. So, the 2nd dealer explained to me and even proof it that the alternator works very well without being necessary of it's replacement.. Problem fixed in 30 minutes, and paid out of my pocket $ 155.99 in order to get my boat fixed since the 2nd dealer was not Mercury autorized place, but got autorized Mercury technician... I did called the Mercury Manufacture and spoke with numerous reps over the phone, but I encounter a very dissapointment behaviour and refusal to reimburse my 155.99 expence... Mercury Manufacture Manager told that this harness assy with a 100 A fuse on it was cause because of something external like lose of battery conection or battery conected wrong, and that it is not covered by warranty.. That is B.S. since this battery was OK in the past 7 months, and there was not a single issue of starting my engine or alarm what so ever... They just DON'T want to cover my expence since this engine it is in warranty and they said that every fuse it's not covered... It was not me which blow up that fuse and create a alarm problem and that I consider to be a manufacture defect since this issue just ocured after almost seven months... They just don't accepted and since they advertise a 5 years warranty on their mercury outboard engine in order to attract more customers and make us buy this rigs with this kind of outboard brands.. I do believe that the advertisement it is FALS and this people refuse to covered as per any malfunction or defects.. Some of the reps being quiet unpolite and assuming all kinds of statement which never being said be their higher management... That create a quiet un-necessary comments and conversation, plus me being trated very unfair and disrespect... Basicaly I thought I saved the Manufacture un-necessary paid labour and replacement of a part that was still in very good working condition, plus all other expencess that should of being required in order to fix my engine.. So in return Mercury Manufacture refuse my expence and give all kinds of crap so that I can forget about my money... I told them that the engine was OK and their was nothing wrong with my starting problem and alternator failure, since the problem was fixed and the total cost of this repair was a significant lower than 1st Mercury dealer would of done it... The alarm goes off because of the battery not being charge and go below 11.5 Voltage, now since the cable it's replaced everyting work just fine... In conclusion, the Mercury Manufacture just play a very nasty game by giving me all kinds of excuses in order to avoid my $ 155.99 expence, plus un-happy customer.. They can do same to everyone of you, so think first or ask very specific before by this Mercury products with fals warranty coverage...

Good luck to every one out there..
