My white cash for clunker 2002 dodge 1500 van sat in the Mastro Subaru Sanford clunker lot for days after being accepted for the CARS rebate and driven there by the brother of the general manger at Mastro. My salesman was a Mastro sales manager. The paper work for the clunker qualification was in the possession of Mastro for weeks (since 8/5/09). Mastro and I signed a formal new vehicle purchase order contract for a new Subaru on 8/23/09. I insisted it had the general managers knowledge and approval (he lives in tampa but the contract approved by phone in my presence and signed by his brother a sales manager). i was assured on 8/23 that the dealership would accept $3500 trade equity on the Dodge "clunker" with or without the CARS program rebate. So, i was assured it was a done deal. Mastro said the deal was dependent only on if I could raise the $11,000+ cash for the new base 08 Subaru Impreza. i raised the cash in full and they took possession of my bank draft. I was given the keys to the new Subaru, was told it was mine and drove it home. I had it for almost 2 days. i was called by sales office on 8/24/09 to return to the dealership to get the papers necessary for a new title, pay a small remaining balance with my american express card and get some new car service check-ups, car wash, detail and some nitrogen in the tires. Then, in an absolute shock confrontation out of a "stephen king nightmare novel", while i was waiting for my service dept. new car detail to be completed, i was confronted by Joe Anglada who apparently is a finance manager at Mastro. He callously shoved a document in my face and said the Dodge didn't qualify for clunkers because the dates were insufficient. i tried to explain that i had provided those documents with those dates weeks ago with reservations about the dates and was told dont worry, everything will be OK, we can do the deal anyway. I told Anglada that I was assured by the "big boss" general manager John Fruhmorgen and sales manager Eric Fruhmorgen that "it didnt matter about the papers" and that "the deal would be done with or without the clunker program rebate" but Anglada said no, that wouldn't happen". He then, in a malicious display of anger and scorn toward me a customer, proceeded to blame me for the whole misunderstanding, that I manipulated his salesman and even accused me of "risking the life of the sales manager that drove the broken down clunker from st. petersburg!" (BTW, that salesman/manager who signed the contract for the dealership was suspended by the owner Steven Mastro for 2 months - If it was all my fault then why take a man's livelihood away? i rest my case)

The keys to the clunker or new vehicle have not been returned to me. The new Subaru, I had contracted for, remained on the lot for days and has yet to be returned. My bank draft was returned. The clunker in another lot remanined for days. The original title of the Dodge clunker apparently was lost at the dealership. Now the clunker has a flat tire and the dealership refused to return the van back to st. pete and threatened to tow it at my cost!. The management or the owners Steve and Peter Mastro refused to answer my emails, faxes or return my calls. The clunker remained for days behind a fence in the clunker lot until finally returned after I threatened a law suit. Please recall that THEY drove it Sanford, not me, after signing a contract accepting $3500 trade equity and assuring me and congratulating me on my new Subaru purchase! Mastro reneged on a "done deal" and left me stranded without transportation at there dealership! this demonstrates how good a signed contract is with Mastro Subaru. It means nothing! This demonstrates that when the Mastro management says we got a deal with you one way or another it means nothing at Mastro.

In summary this is a eyewitness account and expose' of this Mastro Imports Subaru - Suzuki dealer for abusing customers via the CARS rebate program and by dishonesty and deceptive practices damaged a Subaru owner and service customer financially and emotionally. There is now in Orlando and Central Florida yet another dealer in the mode and style of former Bill Heard Chevrolet etc. Mastro Imports will end up as that disgraced new car retail enterprise did..bankrupt just as their unethical and immoral sales practices seem to be. I will find a way to alert others about my Dodge clunker fiasco with Mastro after they signed a contract with me then proceeded to transport the clunker from St. Pete to Orlando after guaranteeing me i was going to drive away a new 2008 Subaru, then reneged!

Caveat Emptor! Buyers' Beware!

Ha Ha! you obviously work for the Mastro Import Subaru Ripoff Artists. I have plenty of time to tell others of the truth on how they lie, cheat and deceive at Mastro. They did the wrong thing to me and others and havent the guts to do anything about it just have sorry souls like you try to intimidate honest customers like me. whoever you are you dont have the guts to sign your obvious biased and incredulous remarks. I am still a doctor and still telling people to avoid the liars at Mastro Imports! -Dr. Jim

I think it may be time for you to find a job, or at the minimum a hobby.  It seems that the dealership did the right thing by not going through with the transaction.  Here's a question to ponder.  Had they gone through with the transaction and had it rejected by the government, would you have returned the car, or would you have driven the car across the border and hid?

Curious in Florida.
