Talent management agency Big Shot Live recently sponsored an online talent competition in which they promised to bring one winner a day to Hollywood to meet with industry insiders.

Part way through the competition they decided not to bring the talent to L.A. after all. Those who had followed the rules and did everything BSL required were completely ripped off.

Later they promised that the top vote getter in each of the daily categories would win a prize, but, in several instances, they didn't choose the top vote getter, instead giving it to someone as low as 5th place. In other words, they lied, which isn't unusual in Hollywood, but it clearly shows they can't be trusted.

They also allowed numerous other rules to be broken without consequence.

While most of the talent and their family and friends who voted ended up with nothing to show for their efforts, Big Shot Live owner, Madison Road Entertainment, made millions.

Now they are gearing up for season two. Avoid this worthless so-called management company and their online competition. You have as much chance of becoming famous using this site as you do of shooting a hole in one on the golf course.

Jack, We'll have to agree to disagree. Everyone is going to have their own individual experiences and differences and I am sorry your experience with Big Shot Live was not the best in your opinion. Mine happened to turn out a little different and was a good experience and opportunity for me in my opinion. Just to clear up what you mentioned about the producers breaking the rules with me because I was already a working musician when I won. The rules clearly stated that participants could not be "signed" with any talent and/or management company at the time they were participating in the competition. Which I was not. I have managed my own career for over 10 years. The producers absolutely want Professional Talent involved in the competition and I would have to mention that many of the winners are quite professional in their talent and I wouldn't categorize most of them as amateurs at all, including me. We just happened not to be signed with anyone and could participate within the guidelines of the competition. Remember, it's just a fun internet competition which has gotten some of it's users a lot of exposure and new fans. Again, Big Shot Live was a great experience for me and continues to be as they have worked with me during the offseason and preparing for Season 2 this summer. When the new website is launched this summer, it will have several improvements and it will be a much better experience for the users and the talent involved. Jack, I hope you come back and it give it another try this summer. It's going to be another fun season with Big Shot and the new website. If not, at least stop by my Profile Page, leave a comment and say Hi. :) No hard feelings, Just Big Shot and Madison Road have treated me like family since winning and I had to respond to your post. They really do care and want to make the site and the experience work for everyone. I wish you all the Best. Please Keep in Touch, -Kevin Kline www.KevinKlineOnline.com

In a report filed on NewTeeVee.com producers stated that they were spending between 5-10 million dollars on season two of Big Shot Live. Clearly they wouldn't be spending that kind of money if their only income was the 25% commission generated by their clients. They are raking in advertising dollars hand over fist. In his rebuttal Kevin mentions that he was a working musician when competing on BSL, which is one of several rules that producers allowed to be broken. The rules clearly state that the competition was for amateurs. Around week ten of the competition, one of the actors who portrays a manager, made the on web announcement that they would be awarding the TOP vote getter a free airline ticket (I have a copy of the announcement on videotape and know of which I speak). On several occasions someone who had been in 6th place just moments before the voting closed was declared the winner. Kevin would know from personal experience, I'm sure, that no one can jump from 6th to 1st in a matter of minutes. Kevin may have had a good experience, but I've heard from plenty of others who were disappointed and felt like they were ripped off. If you want to waste your time with this competition, go ahead, but don't say you weren't warned in advance!

Calling it Big Shot Lie might be taking it a bit too far.

Jack, After reading your post on Big Shot Live and Madison Road Entertainment, I had to chime in on your comments from my own perspective. As the week 1 winner of the singing category and being a part of Big Shot Live throughout the entire first season, I have a lot of positive things to say about the company and my relationship with them after becoming a client. Because I was already making a living as a musician before entering the contest, I might have approached this opportunity as not to have instant fame, but to utilize Big Shot as an opportunity to gain a larger fan base and take advantage of the exposure and opportunities that Big Shot Live had to offer. Big Shot Live never promised anyone instant fame from winning, but gave their clients real opportunities with connected people that could positively affect their career if they had enough talent. It's a shot at breaking into a higher level of the entertainment industry. The few winners and contestants that understood this concept, myself included, have benefited greatly from taking advantage of the opportunities and mainly the exposure that Big Shot Live offered. A lot of which, I created myself, through my own posted videos and being active on the site with other users and members. I will be the first to admit that the first season of Big Shot Live had many bumps, a tough to navigate website and some frustrating rule changes along the way. But any idea that is new and innovative, especially such a large undertaking as Big Shot Live, will experience some growing pains the first time around. Madison Road, in my opinion, did their very best to keep up with these growing pains. As far as your concern with Madison Road not picking the top vote getters and sometimes picking a 5th place contestant...I don't remember ever seeing 1st through 5th place rankings on the site? In fact, I believe they did that intentionally, because if you read the contest Rules, they allowed themselves the discretion of being able to pick from the Top 5 to insure they were picking the most talented and not necessarily the most popular. You mentioned in your post "while most of the talent and their family and friends who voted ended up with nothing to show for their efforts, Big Shot Live and Madison Road made millions." I believe Big Shot Live may begin rewarding it's voters with prizes and lots of free stuff in the second season....and please send me the link or tell me where you read Madison Road's financial statements and the millions that they made the 1st season. Or let me know if you just kinda made that number up. Thanks. :) I know personally that Madison Road and everyone involved in Big Shot Live has a true and honest commitment to making this idea work for everyone. I look forward to seeing and utilizing the new ideas and concepts that Season 2 will have to offer and hope they will continue to give musicians and other talent across the nation the opportunities we might never have had the ability or the resources to expose ourselves to. Through my creative ways of utilizing the exposure on Big Shot Live over the past 5 months, my website hits to www.KevinKlineOnline.com have increased 300%, my iTune Music Downloads have nearly tripled in the first quarter and my email fan base has doubled in size. That's no Big Shot Lie....Thank You Madison Road & Big Shot Live for the support. -Kevin Kline www.KevinKlineOnline.com
