Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?

My car was taken in to replace two tires and to check out the brakes. My car is a 2000 with 260K miles on it at the time (it now has 280K).  The engire was replaced at 195K and several other items at 243K.

The technician said that my brakes were okay but I would need new shocks/struts, as they were leaking and were obviously old AND I QUOTE VERBATIM "IT LOOKS LIKE THEY ARE THE ORIGINAL SHOCKS". He quoted me about $550.  He went on to say other things will need to be done in the near future ("as my car has such high mileage") but shocks were paramount as if they don't work I am risking my life in a head on collision.

I did not tell this technician that I got brand new shocks at 243K.  The next day I called the manager and told him the situation. I asked do they pressure their people to do this to bring in additional sales. He said they most assuredly do not do business that way and he trusts his peoples' opinions but to bring it in for a look.

I brought it in the next day and the manager personally put it on the lift and checked it out stem to stern.  He admitted the shocks ARE NOT leaking and do not need to be replaced.  He tried to explain away the other items and did not seem to believe me when I stated the engine was replaced at 195K and the shocks at 243K. I said if this was not deliberate, how do you explain it?  He had no answer for this but said "he would speak to the technician". The manager did not seem shocked or surprised at all to discover I most assuredly did not need $550 of repairs.

Before speaking to the manager above, I had a male friend bring in the same car to a different Les Schwab in a nearby city with imaginary complaints and this individual was told the car was fine but he will want to do the brakes in the next 10K or so and rotate the tires.  My friend was actually congratulated by this location on keeping a Ford Focus running for nearly 300K!

I have kept the paperwork that Les Schwab checked the shocks a second time and I have that in addition to the quote given me for the shocks by the original technician.

I was offered nothing for all of this and have heard nothing from Les Schwab since.  Not even an apology.

This same Les Schwab sold me a six year battery that only lasted four but shocks cost way more.

I wish a news crew would take my car to several Les Schwabs and record what happens at each one to prove if it is a location thing or a company thing.  Ever since Mr. Schwab died, this organization has gone straight downhill.

Instead of doing shows on Dirty Dining, they need to do it also on Dirty Deal Vehicle, as having a running car comes in as a need right after food, water and housing.
