I purchased new lenses for my eyeglasses in March of 2011 from Lenscrafters as my original lenses cracked from left to right. The first week in November 2011 I noticed a crack forming from left to right just as before.  I brought the glasses into the store and I had purchased insurance on the lenses but not the frames.  I was told the lenses were being replaced free as defective lenses. Additionally, the frame leg on my frames fell off the morning I went to Lenscrafters and so I was told there was no insurance purchased on the frames so I would have to replace them.  I had a second pair of glasses that the lens had now cracked top to bottom and was told that I would have to replace those as they were originally purchased from Pearl Vision and the warranty was expired.  I had no problem with the second pair as it was not purchased from Lenscrafters.  When I got the bill for both pair the total was $612.00 and it clearly showed that I was charged for the replacement lenses in both pairs of glasses.  I contacted their corporpate office and the best they did was get the store manager to deduct $50.00 from the bill.  I will NEVER use Lenscrafters again!  I believe that they sell poor quality lenses and frames.  I have worn glasses for years and never had lenses crack before.  I checked with other people to see if they had ever experienced cracked lenses and they said no.  Lenscrafters is overpriced as I could have saved myself about $240.00 if I had gone to my own Opthalmologist and gotten my eyglases there instead.  I would say that customer service at Lenscrafters is poorly practiced.  The lenses I got were also difficult to clean, smudged easily and the glasses constantly require adjustment.  If you are considering buying glasses, my advice is shop around, don't get taken to the cleaners like I did. I don't like dealing with dishonest people.  Watch on your invoice how they play with the numbers too and don't sign or pay for anything until you read all the fine print.
