We ordered sod from Landscape Nursery and had it delivered to our home on Friday morning. We pulled up our old dead grass and laid the new sod on Sunday morning. The sod did not look too healthy at that point, it was mostly yellow and of course covered with dirt so we couldn't decipher very well what shape it was in. We hoped that it just needed water and would be fine in a day or two. On Monday morning I went outside to discover that the sod looked like hay. 95% brown with some green around the edges. I notified Landscape Nursery and was told that all of their items are sold "as-is" and they don't give any refunds. They are adamant that the sod should have been laid by Saturday. "Put some fertilizer on it", was their solution (they would even supply the fertilizer!) I contacted 4 other nurseries and was told that a 48 hour turn-around time to lay sod should not be harmful to the sod. On Tuesday our lawn service company came out to look at it and told me that fertilizer wouldn't help and that the sod was dead, they also agreed that laying to sod on Sunday should not harm it. On Wednesday I had an Environmental Specialist from the Florida Department of Agriculture come out to examine the sod. His opinion was the the sod had been palletized for too long and should not have been sold in the first place (he also agreed with the Sunday sod laying time). When I contacted the nursery about the latest assesment they stuck with their story that the sod should have been laid the next day, all products are as-is, no refunds. So at this point my lawn looks much worse than before we sodded and I'm sure that soon I will be harassed & fined by our home owner's association. I am shocked that this company feels that they hold no responsibility for our dead sod and that they are so unwilling to even consider that their product was faulty.
