After an extremely absurd and negative encounter with L. Josh Lieff over a cottage rental paid 6 months ago with no hard copy confirmation of payment after repeated requests, I decided to research this individual and found a few skeletons in his closet (ie. bad service record, misrepresentation of products, nonpayment of funds over $10,000 through a now defunct company "Grenwich Jewellery", installation of inferior product through "Fieldmaster Company")

I dealt with this individual over what I thought would be a simple transaction, renting a cottage from him in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia through the internet (Airbnb).  I discovered a rude and viscious bully who was incapable of answering the simplest and most straightfoward requests.  Mr. Lieff chose to make the encounter personal through heckling and insulting bullyish communication after I requested simple confirmation of monies paid in January of 2015 in the form of a hard copy receipt.  It is now June 2015. The receipt was finally provided in the form of a personal email (not an attachment, just a simple personal email), but I have yet to be assured that this cottage actually exists as I travel over 2,200 km to this destination.

Following up on my negative encounter with Mr. Josh Lieff, I finally recieved a hostile rebuttal on this website (as noted above) and through several viscious personal emails in the middle of the night (April 7, 2016), almost a year after I posted the initial report.

This individual continues to intimidate, bully and harass me, both on this website, through text messages and my personal email.  If I encounter further harassment, I will be calling the police.  Apologetic emails from me in order to assuage this individual are only turned around and used against me by Mr. Lieff as is evident in his rebuttal.

With regard to the rental of the Cape Breton Island cottage through Airbnb, the stay went fairly well thanks to NO CONTACT with Mr. Josh Lieff.  Being extremely fearful of this man, I chose to deal only with his father who was on site in Cape Breton.  Mr. Josh Lieff was several thousand miles away in Toronto, Ontario. 

I strongly recommend that anyone considering a rental of this cottage that they steer clear of Mr. Josh Lieff.  His father, Moe Lieff is an exceptional host and can be reached at this telephone number : 1.902.294.0322.

The only problem we encountered during our stay was a complete lack of water for three separate nights.  Something had gone wrong with the water/septic/pump system and no plumber was available, hence no drinking water, no water for cooking, washing or bathing. 

We had no other choice but to purchase our own water, (which we were not reimbursed for) and forced to drag buckets of water from the ocean up a steep cliff so that we could atleast flush the toilet.  Mr. Lieff's father was very friendly and accomodating, offering a room in his own home and a free night at the cottage if we chose to return the next year, which we have chosen not to do for obvious reasons.

As Mr. Josh Lieff (who is located in Toronto) is the property manager of this cottage, I feel that it is his responsibility to reimburse us for some of the nights without water at the cottage he manages. I also requested an apology.  Rather that negotiate, this individual has chosen to intimidate me further by attacking my mental health and stability; a bully's natural course of action. 

At this point, I wish no further interaction with this lunatic and would prefer he donate any monies owing me to the Salvation Army, which I indicated to him.  I will take my issues further through social media and public entities such as CBC Marketplace who have already been in contact with me regarding the online company Airbnb.

Catherine is clearly unstable. Here is an email she sent me and then my reply. Josh, You're correct in that I over reacted and acted fearfully and selfishly. I used a person that I used to work for (Ontario's premier) to get some reassurance from you which in the end was unnecessary.  As you must know, online interactions can be scary at times when trust is lacking.  I apologize for the stress and anxiety on my part for you on a special day, being Father's Day.  You were so kind and reassuring after my car accident in early spring. I thank you most sincerely for that. I also want to thank you for booking me so early and out of season in January at such a decent price. My hope is that we can move past this. I always prefer written communication whenever possible, hence my fear of "telephone only" interactions. I'm an extremely private person, something which I truly appreciated from you and Moe.  I would like to better understand your anger. Clearly, I misinterpreted your text messages and your efforts to make this a positive experience.   Be well and I ‎apologize that I made you feel inadequate and treated you with disrespect.   Catherine My reply: thank you and all is forgotten. We would be very happy to host you anytime. As I mentioned , my parents said you were an absolute pleasure and had left the cottage immaculate. I really appreciate your reply and hoping your having a great summer. All the best. Josh Catherine took full responsibility for causing a huge mess. She misrepresented herself as the premier of Ontario (I saved the text message) . They had a wonderful time at our cottage and conveyed that time and time again. Her actions are and words are very inconsistent and quite disturbing to say the least
