The $200 restocking charge you quoted is known as buyers remorse. I am puzzled by this because Sears is known as a satisfaction guaranteed retailer. Sounds to me like the sales associate just didn't want to lose a commission so they came up with the restocking charge to scare you off. I am assuming that you are dealing with a real sears store and not one of their old franchise stores, a program they are phasing out. Also, you now have grounds to return the product for full credit on the grounds that you are still in the first year, which is known as the warranty period, and the product has not operated in a satisfactory manor. If the appliance department will not process a return then by all means ask for the store manager. Good luck!!
