JD Marvel Mail-Order Scam supported by coupon publisher Valassis
Well, I though I'd been smart and carefull enough. No so apparently.
The name of the fraudulent business: J.D. Marvel Products
The product I ordered: Indoor mini-dish TV/FV antenna
The "tuition fee": $30 CDN plus 15% in sales taxes plus mail stamp plus awaiting time plus time and good health wasted trying to contact the culprit and get a bit of respect out of him.
Check has got cleared. Nothing has been delivered.

The advertising company spreading around the scam: Valassis (VCI on NYSE), in Canada through their affiliated company Valassis International, Inc. Company d/b/a/ Valassis Canada, 5935 Airport Road, Ste. 710, Mississauga, Ontario, L4V 1W5 phone(905) 677-0499. I notified the company. Their reaction indicated that they had known of the fraud yet prefered to go along with it. I wish their shareholders the best of luck in ripping people across America off!
A bit of advice if nobody minds: there are Attorney (Solicitor) General Offices with their Consumer Affairs Committees in Canada and in the US, there are Postal Services that watch for and take care of mail-order crime, there are Federal Trade Commission in the US and Office of Consumer Affairs in Canada, there is Better Business Bureau. I am going to report what happened to me to all of them mentioning not only J.D. Marvel WhateverItIs but the company that delivered their ad to my door. Yet, it would be much more effective if every victim did. It would be even better if whatever steam got out here on this site it would be forwarded properly to the agencies mentioned.
