Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
I received a threatening letter from JBC Legal Group saying that I had created an obligation and did not fulfill it when I "passed the bad check(s) listed below." It was ostensibly a check from 2000. Only problem - I had never heard about anything like that - I don't believe I ever bounced check a check in my life. So I "bit" and called them.

They gave me the same runaround you see on all the other complaints. When I requested documentation she hung up on me. I called the bank, who said there was no problem with the check, that it had been cashed years ago. So I decided to have a little fun with these guys. I called the police, who called JBC. JBC yelled at the State Trooper, who was not amused. He went straight to the bank to pick up the check and then on to the DA's office. From there he went to the State AG who opened a case. Then I filed a complaint with the FTC. I filed a complaint with the NJ State Attorney Office.

I cooperated with the NY State Attorney's office and submitted statements and documentation. I filed a complaint with the BBB. Thinking this was way too much fun to have all by myself I then called the local TV station, who ran a scam report on the news and they received numerous calls from others, who are all being referred to the Consumer Protection Board and the NY State AG Office.

Meanwhile, I keep calling back to JBC asking questions and they keep piling on more and more threats that are going straight into the case against them. GET BUSY folks - you can have a LOT of fun with these guys - cost THEM some time and $$ (and eventually play a role in shutting them down). Good luck!

Good grief, I can't even get the AG in MY state to make time for these guys, but YOU got it done. You get my Commendation Medal for this week. Hopefully more and more people will go to the right places--the FTC, your state AG, your POLICE OR SHERIFF, and last but not least YOUR FRIENDLY NEIGHBORHOOD CONSUMER LAWYER like ME! It is fun to play with them on the phone, but the phone call I really liked was the one a few days ago where I left a message with their back office about the brand-new class action I filed against them. After telling one of the phone thugs who threatened my client with lawsuit and judgment and ruined credit over a nonexistent check five years old, "hey good news--you don't have to sue her now--you can just assert a counterclaim in the suit I filed!" They were not amused. But I was! Find a NY consumer lawyer and sue them, quick, while there's still money left to get.
