Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?

I could not possibly fully explain all of the misinformation and incorrect instructions this company's ill-trained customer service reps dig out on a regular basis. One rep gave my son incorrect information which led to expenses of over $1200 and all we got was an apology for their error. I challenge anyone to try to reach a supervisor or manager when the customer service rep can't answer your questions. You will be told the supervisor is not in yet, on a break, at lunch, or gone for the day. Do not waste your breath trying to leave a message to have a supervisor call you back because that is futile. I was told no less than 6 times that a supervisor would return my call and they never did. The reps you get when you call customer service appear to be high school dropouts who are reading from a script and just continue to talk over you and say the same thing over and over regardless of the fact that it has nothing to do with your inquiry. If you have a specific question, you will get a different answer and instructions each and every time you call. These untrained phone jockies will try to tell you what the law is when they have absolutely no idea what they are talking about. I am an attorney and when I told the rep that they were incorrect about what the law is, they got flustered and said that is what they are told to tell customers. It is a disgrace that this company continues do do such shoddy business and employs uneducated and poorly trained customer service reps who are providing incorrect information and instruction which, if followed, will cost the customer quite a bit of money.

When my son called to schedule his recalibration, he was told that the service center never received his recalibration kit. He was advised that he could continue his plan to drive from his home in Austin to Houston and instructed to call the next day after his car was locked down by Intoxalock and they would reverse the lockout for 3 days if he paid $75. Based upon their instructions, he drove to Houston and once the car was locked down he called for the 3 day extension and he was told the information given to him the day before was wrong. He was now told that his only option was to have his car towed to Austin to have it recalibrate do. Instead of paying the $1400 tow to Austin, I advised them that I wanted the device taken off my car. I was told to send them a copy of the title to prove I was the owner and I could have it removed. I sent the title and then they said that information was wrong and they now said they needed a court order to remove it from my car. I informed them that there was no court order requiring the device so I did not need a court order to get it off. Unfortunately, the service rep didn't know how to handle this situation so she just started telling me it was "the law" but when asked, she didn't know what law or where I could find the law she was referring to.

Bottom line, I had to rent a car for 3 weeks while I tried to get a court order to remove a device they had never ordered to be installed and then had to pay for the removal of the device and the towing bill to get the car there. You may get an occasional apology from a customer service rep for the prior rep's incorrect instructions but you will never get a supervisor to take 5 minutes away from their break or lunch to resolve the problem before the customer is out of pocket over$1200 in unnecessary expenses. Do not use this totally incompetent company. There are many options out there and you need to use a company that values its customers and not one that isolates itself behind totally incompetent phone jockies.

I feel like I am back on the phone with Intoxalock's customer service department who read from a script and make ridiculous, baseless statements like "it's the law". You are sadly mistaken that nobody uses these devices unless they are court ordered. Where do you come up with such gibberish? I do apologize for not including every single detail in my original complaint. I have tried to work with these people for over 3 weeks and it would have taken up entirely too much space to report everything. However, I am happy to answer the questions you raised. You are incorrect in stating that the only time someone puts an ignition device on a car is if it is ordered by a court. Sometimes parents step in and are proactive in monitoring their children's behavior. There was NO court order to put the Intoxalock system on my car. As for the tow to Austin, i checked with a company here in Houston that I used to get the car here when I purchased it in Dallas. You are absolutely correct in stating that I probably could have done it cheaper than the quote of $1400, but it was never an acceptable resolution to correcting their mistake so I did not seek additional quotes. Regarding the filing of a lawsuit, this matter is still unfolding. It would be premature to file a lawsuit prior to examinIng optional resolutions. Contrary to your stated solution, responsible attorneys do not run to the courthouse with every dispute. I gather all of the facts and seek other potential resolutions prior to burdening the courts. Regarding why I went and got a court order to remove the device, that was obvious. I was told that was the only way they would take it off and, as I clearly stated, I could not reach a supervisor to explain my position. I knew I had the resources get a court order even though it was not legally required, so I went ahead and did that to move things along. Sometimes it is advantageous to work with adversaries to solve the immediate problem and then later address the bigger issue. Try not to make general assumptions and then base your opinion on them. It is always best to get all of the facts before you form an opinion. Again, I am sorry for not writing every single thing that happened or was said. Also, in the future, leave it up to legal professionals to state what the law is if you don't have the expertise.

First how come in this entire report you don't say what this device does or is used for?  Well don't worry let me help anyone who doesn't know what it is.

If this device was put on your car, that means that the court ordered it as part of a probation agreement due to your son being convicted of Drunk Driving.  That's right instead of taking away his license for life(which in my opinion I thnk is a great option), instead of sticking his butt in jail for several months(again in my opinion a great option), the courts have come up with an alternative.  That alternative is to allow him to have a device installed on their car that verifies that that they are not violating the terms of their probation by trying to drive after they have been drinking.

So here is what does not make sense.  If we are to look at this report, even though you claim to be an attorney.  You come off as some just happy go lucky guy who apparently had nothing better to do than to let them install this device on your car.  After all why if you claim there was no court order would you as an attorney allow this in the first place?

Then since you made the assertion that no court order was required to remove it, why again as an attorney did you spend 3 weeks getting said court order?  Instead of filing a suit against them for illegally putting the device on your car and not removing it upon request?  Where in this suit you could have also sued them for all of the expenses you claim you had to incur?

I did find one other interesting item.  In just doing a quick search, I could locate several companies who do Auto Transport and you could have had it shipped back Austin, many were well under $300 and could do it in 2-3 days.  Now, yes it is still $300, but that is not $1400 and having it sit idle for weeks while you tried to get it removed.

Oh if you did sue them, why not post the court information including the docket number and court location so everyone can follow it if they so desire.
