People Please heed this warning, I purchased a New and a Used Vechicle within two months of each other at the same dealership within thirty miles of my hometown..

With each purchase the dealer Don Whilhelm of Jamestown, ND their motto is (We Stand Behind You After The Sale),they talked us into buying the STarCare Warrenties. for the total added sum of $7,000.00 Dollars.. Our pickup is a 96 with 68,000 miles on it when we bought it two years ago. it very seldom left town, this last weekend we went to South Dakota with it and hauled back a small camper which weighted about 2,000 pounds, the booklet says that the pickup is capable of hauling up to 6,000 pounds.. on the way back home we noticed that the transmission was slipping.

When we got home and took the camper out, I changed the transmission oil and it was like new yet, I called the dealer that it was bought from and was told the transmission was shot. But that my warrenty was expired as of- two weeks ago- there was nothing they could do but sell me a new one for $2,055.12 with labor. or I could call the StarCare myself and maybe they would cover it.

Well I did and was told that it was expired and even though the pickup only had 6,000 miles since bought, there was nothing they could do. Well we quickly called and had the Warrenty taken off the new Jeep. and was charged a 300.00 service charge for doing that... MY WORD TO YOU IS STAY AWAY FROM ANY BUMPER-TO-BUMPER EXTENDED WARRENTIES ESPECIALLY ONE CALLED STARCARE.. AND DON WILHELM DEALERSHIP IN JAMESTOWN ND. be careful out there, they are all trying to get rich, don't let it be off your backs..

Don Wilhelm Inc., Jamestown, ND, does not currently sell, and has never sold, a STarCare extended warranty. We, therefore, find Rodney from Valley City's complaint very puzzling. The $7000 price tag cited for the 2 extended warranties is also very puzzling. To my knowledge, Don Wilhelm Inc. does not now sell, and has never sold, warranties with such unusually high price tags.

I understand the frustration, but if your warrenty was expired, what should they have done? I understand their position. I am here because I have a problem with this company as well. We bought an ex-tended warranty (not StarCare)from this company. Our 99 Dodge Durango is still covered for 20,000 and 2 years. The entire engine needs to be replaced. They claim that we never changed the oil in our vehicle. We supplied receipts and they say that doesn't prove that the oil was actually changed! Sludge in the engine....Denied My Husband went to inspect the vehicle him self. He saw that something got hot in the engine and burned the oil onto the screen, causing a portion to sludge. The oil that was drained was in good condition, which apparently isn't usually so when you haven't changed he oil. They won't listen, they won't pay ($5000). Their response? Sludge in the engine, denied. Well, we have contacted the ins. commissioner, will be contacting the atty general and taking them to court. Apparently our atty gen in MN is already investigating these companys for ripping people off.
