Huffman Koos False Advertising Scam Lvingston New Jersey
Veterans day sale flyer, advertised a five piece dining room set with two extra chairs for free. In addition, it advertised that all items were 15% off the sale price. While several of the other items included a flag in the ad that indicated the 15% price, this particular item did not. Based on this, the ad indicated that we could take 15% off the price of $960.
When we went to the store, we found that the store would not honor that add.

Thanks for your concern, but you are incorrect. I think my oringinal posting was unclear. The flyer stated that ALL ITEMS WERE 15% off the sale price. The flags contained in the pictures for certain items indicated that the 15% off was already included in the advertised price for some of the items in the flyer, BUT NOT FOR THE ITEM I WAS INTERESTED IN. That item simply stated an advertised price, leading a reasonable consumer to believe that they were going to get another 15% off. I agree that most companies are not out to defraud the public. In this case though, the advertising was false and the company should live up to what they printed.

Let's see, you said that several items on the sale flier had pennants with "15%" off on them, but the dining room that you wanted to purchase did not. Am I correct? I consider myself to be a pretty savvy consumer and I wouldn't have assumed that everything was an additional 15% off. Did you stop to consider that maybe the offer of the 2 extra chairs for "free" (term used loosely) would add up to more than 15% off? Do the math...I think that it might. Businesses spent hours and hours and sometimes thousands of dollars to develop their ads...very few companies actually are trying to be deceptive, but sometimes what seems absolutely clear to the business owner and his advertising people can be misconstrued by any shopper. If the dining room table with the "free" chairs also had a 15% off pennant sticking out of the picture and then they refused to honor it, then you'd have a case to gripe. Sincerely, I sell furniture too...but not in NJ
