Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
I work at hrs. I read here and I hear people who call me whine way too much. There are a lot of people who think we owe them something and think we should do to their every needs. When the truth of the matter is, YOU OWE US. It is not our fault that the store reps (best buy, etc.) did not explain your plan correctly. And we more then often understand this and erase your delinq history and explain the plan to you. But if you call us yelling, screaming and threatning us then we will not do settle the problem with you. My boyfriend has a best buy card and he has the same as cash plan and he has never been even a day late once, thats because he READS what he signs!

A lot of the people who call me, threaten me,and call me every name in the book, thinking that will change everything...for one THATS ILLEGAL. For two,it makes me and everyone else they do it to,not happy at all. You can go along way with being kind and explaining what the problem is in a calm matter not yelling and screaming like we are at fault for you signing away without reading. Point of the matter is , to get respect you have to give respect.

I am a phone representative for one of the largest telecommunications companies in the world and have been doing it for a number of years now and I have dealt with every type of A-hole and sweetheart this great Earth has ever produced and I understand what Carly means by giving respect to get respect and how it is much easier to get what you want by being nice instead of being a jerk. This is a very true sentiment and on behalf of all of "The Whiners", I'd like to thank you Carly, for your respectful description of the people who pay for your livelihood. You are a true representative of all that has gone wrong with the customer service in American companies. I will try really hard not to sound like every other victim... oops... Whiner... Sorry... I mean customer of HRS (Household Retail Services)who has been snowed and bent over and "stuck" in the preverbial sense. I understand how good credit works and I pride myself in my good credit and ability to pay all of my bills on time and HRS has just thrown it all away because of inept, under-educated kids and foreigners who carry a false sense of security in their futures thinking HRS could give 2 craps about them to supply them a life worth living.. But I digress.. I am most curious how it is that a "business" such as HRS is able to stay in business when their disservice representatives are completely unable to correct a billing address after 5 times. I would receive a bill and then pay it. I would go a couple months without getting a bill & would then get a call asking me to pay up. I confirmed every single time that they had an inaccurate address on file & had kindly asked them to correct it and to send my bills appropriately so that I may be able to pay what I owe. The bill would get to me the next bill cycle & then I would start the process all over again a couple months later when I received a call asking me to pay my bill and me having to give them the right address to send the bills to in order for me to pay.. It has been a few months since they have sent me a bill and now all of a sudden I, along with my parents, are receiving harrassing phone calls from a debt collector asking me to pay $7000 right now. I personally believe that HRS is purposely tacking on late fees and bitterly screwing with its customers because it has lost all sense of decency and has been blinded by greed which is one of the 7 deadly sins which will send all those in charge straight to hell (In the literal sense) which is exactly what they deserve for their practices. Being a God fearing man, I know that each will be judged by the maker and I pity those at HRS who will ALL find their time in front of God to explain their dis-service to their fellow man. Since I am in the same type of field and environment as my respectful peer Carly, I understand that her incompetence and those of her co-workers is not necessarily her fault as much as it is her managers and on up the chain.. The s**t rolls downhill and Carly is simply doing the work of the piss ant in her company and it is actually her superiors who force her and those in her environment to forget all meaning of Customer Service. When your boss is a 24-7 a*****e who applies pressure to do the wrong thing, it can make the low level employee do the same to the consumers. My best advice for this is to either stand up for what's right, find a new job or shut the fu** up about your "whiny" customers because without them you wouldn't have any damned thing you do. We pay your bills and we supply your life. Recognize this and respect your customers before expecting them to respect you. We have shown our respect by doing business with you so it is you that owe us all the respect in the world in return. I know there is a lawsuit against HRS for their every day practices and I encourage every person who reads this to investigate and get involved in the Class Action Suit. This company must go down and pay for what they have done to us. They have turned many professional people with excellent credit ratings into delinquents in the eyes of lenders for no good reason. I for one, will never do business with HRS or any associate company ever again. None of you deserve my hard earned money and I will make it my ambition to make sure no person I associate with or talk to stops doing business or avoids doing business with any affiliate companies. There are too many options in the world to get screwed over by these degenerates ever again. Boycott Household Resources and all those that stand by their side.

As a mail clerk that handles hrs mail. It has happened many times that a tray of delivered hrs mail is put back in the mail stream by hrs. This mail was held by hrs for a couple days at end of month then redeposited. This then gets mail pcs. to incure a late charge. The inspection service has been notified a year ago and no change. The customer when asked responds with (just doing as told.) I pay mine online so its no harm to me. You may consider this option. So if they do this to the 200 payments in one tray times the 39.00 late charge, they get 7800. additional dollars. Not bad for doing as told. To say that you are bad customers! shame on them.

Perhaps if "Carly" was denied a $50,000 home equity loan because of her "companies" unethical practices..she might become a little "whiny" as well. Perhaps even "she" would start yelling and screaming. Well, I'm a little beyond "whiny" right now...I am outright furious!! I have fought with HRS for over a year now. We had a same as cash promotion that we paid off 4 months in advance. HRS continued to charge us finance charges and late fees...month after month, phone call after phone call.. And YES the customer service is possibly one of the worst I have EVER experienced. And Carly's letter just solidifies my opinion. I am sorry that you (Carly) may be bitter that people who obviously make more money than you have serious problems with the low rent Company to which you work. That is YOUR problem, not ours. WE fully understand the terms of our credit cards. That is why we qualify for them! We pay them accordingly. Grow up. We chose to get an education and not work for minimum wage. Maybe you should have done the same. Perhaps you wouldn't be so "whiny". Now, Wickes has transferred it's credit accounts to CitiBank and the problems just go on. I will NEVER do business with Wickes or HRS again. I hope they both choke

calling us reporters, "Whiny", is basically coming from a person brainwashed by a corporation who pays you your paycheck

Carly, calling us reporters, "Whiny", is basically coming from a person brainwashed by a corporation who pays you your paycheck. In today's busy society mistakes do happen, like being a few days late on a payment as things come up, and no one is perfect that prevents a payment in arriving on the exact day due as HRS wants it. Those of us who have the financial power to pay off immediately or at any time pay interest for the privelige to pay on time, for whatever reason this needs to be done. The key here is that you have a job because we opt to pay you (HRS) interest. But then to totally disregard what laws that are on the books protecting consumers and their credit ratings, is nothing less than criminal. And you should know that. People call up and scream and yell because they know the consequences of your actions and/or have been through this before and the squeaky wheel gets the oil. As an international trader, who buys and sells millions worldwide, companies in the business place are given much more room to play on payments, etc. and trading companies worldwide are not interested in mailing delays and would never ding a customers account for such nonsense. HRS does it because they can and no government agency has it on their priority to stop it and to bring forth criminal charges against such fraudulent activity. Carly, be honest, you do not have the ability in your position to take off bad credit dings or excess finance charges, etc. do you? You may get yelled at or screamed at, but then again, it is your company HRS that makes the rules for the ballgame. And a verbal contract from the merchandise store is as good as a written contract and we all know that these retail stores do not hire the most proficient people to handle such transactions. They want the sale and will say and do whatever to get it. Thus the problem. Carly, I hope you understand this, but your company HRS, formerly Beneficial and HFC has always been and will continue to be the leader in fraudulent practices in the financial industry. Banks and more affluent organizations, credit unions, etc. do not treat their lifeblood like HRS does its customers. They have a reputation to uphold, whereas HRS is similar to Mafia tactics in collecting money, although somewhat overstated.

Excessive Late Charges

This organization has excessive late fees. I owed $330 on my account. My payment was two days late and I was charged a $29.00 late fee. I phoned and they removed the fee. Many states have laws against the excessive charge of late fees and that is the case in my state. You can check your state laws by going to a local library or checking many legal sites on the web, such as www.findlaw.com.

Carly, Carly, Carly... How does it feel to work for the devil? The company you stand behind is not a good one. There are several scams your company pulls, documented by not one or two, but several to hundreds of people. This company is just not ethical. You can deny it or wear your blinders if you choose. I am curious to see if you still stand by them in a few years when you are out of a job because they have been found quilty of swindling, fraud, and much worse... A company that is on the up and up does not have 8 BILLION in lawsuits to try and weasle its way out of. Wake up Carly. Go to school and get a real job.

Carly - Have you ever delt with HRS as a customer?

#16Consumer Comment

Thu, March 21, 2002

I'm NOT a whiny person but rather a person that dosn't put up with incompetent-ignorent "customer service" [if that what you call treating customers like crap]reps. I have two accounts with HRS. One with Best Buy One with Rooms to Go I sent in a change of address for both accounts [3 months ago]and still have not received a bill for the Rooms to Go account. I also put in a change of address with the post office. I also called HRS who said they would take care of it - and NEVER DID!!!!!! Who's whiny fault is that Carly? I'm sure HRS will TRY to charge me late fees as well! I'd rather pay a Lawyer. You attitude is part of the problem, and you comment is proof! A good majority of CUSTOMERS have REAL problems and it's VERY frustrating dealing with a BIT_ _ like you.

I have had an HRS account for about a year. In that time, one payment was two days late because I had started to pay my bills electronically and didn't know about the 5 day delay on my bank's side. I spoke to an HRS rep. explained the problem, and she was kind enough to remove the late charge. You are correct in saying that HRS customer service reps. are generally good people who are just doing their job. On the other hand, I have been trying to resolve an issue through HRS for the last year. It concerns a monthly Infoprotect charge on my account. I have tried to cancel the account every month for the last nine months to no avail. HRS representatives tell me they do not have any control over the charge, the Infoprotect number they give me is a dead number. What I am experiencing seems typical of many people who call your customer service line. HRS employees can not or will not help us. We are frustrated with our lack of control over the situation. I have paid off and closed my HRS account this month. Letters have been sent to Best Buy, the BBB, the Consumer Protection Agency, and the President of Best Buy (urging them to cancel the contract for credit card services with HRS). It may not do any good, but it makes me feel better. Bottom line, I will NEVER do business with HRS again. My advice to you, Carly is to find somewhere to work where you will not have to deal with angry customers, because HRS policies are not improving and with any luck HRS will be shut down. Good luck to you.
