Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
According to the reviews on tripadvisor.com, this motel has had an OBVIOUS mold issue for at least 6 years, along with various other nasty health conditions, so if the Dept of Health had done its job any one of those 6 years, maybe my dog would be alive.

And shame on Howard Johnson for letting this motel drag it's name through the mud like its done. If I owned a HoJo franchise, I'd certainly be screaming for a discount on the franchise fee. Regardless of legal liability, when you are in the business of selling your name, you should be diligent in making sure your name is represented well.

I told the Asian woman, Helen, who is supposedly the owner, that my very healthy dog suddenly had an epileptic seizure and died, and I thought maybe she should have the room checked for mold, since there was a big hole in the ceiling of the bathroom with a towel shoved into it, a spongy wall and stained carpet.

She laughed.

Seriously.

I guess because we paid cash for 3 weeks, she knew I couldn't prove we actually ever stayed in the motel.  Well Helen, I wasn't trying to sue you, I was trying to WARN you, since I read that a health inspector recently DIED from mold exposure.

Also, remove the large mirror she has strategically placed in every room.  My dog let me know someone was standing outside the room a few hours after we checked in and when I went outside and stood in the same spot, I could see EVERYTHING in the entire room reflected in the mirror.  We thought Helen was just perverted until the day we came back and discovered we no longer had access to the room and she had cleaned out ALL of our belongings.

I called Flagstaff Police, but Officer Webb told me it was my word against hers, since I couldnt prove I paid cash for the room, and I couldn't prove what was missing from the room.   If anything like this has happened to you, please contact Officer Webb, you can file a report over the phone. 928-774-1414.

Do not pay cash at this motel, no matter how much the discount is.  I don't know how many rooms have mold in them, but I'm pretty sure that if I had died, she wouldn't have had any problem with that, either, because nobody would have been able to prove I had ever been there. (Actually other reviews warn not to pay with credit card either)

I will never pay cash for a motel room again.  Actually, I don't think I will ever be able to stay in another motel room.

Also, expect to find many many criminals hiding in this motel because Helen takes cash and she doesn't ask for ID.  Helen WANTS criminals staying there because guess who gets to keep all the loot she is spying on in the mirror, once she's able to get her grubby paws on it ?

She has "guests" call the cops and report suspicious activity, but these aren't really guests, they are her employees, who aren't really on a payroll because that would mean she'd have to provide things like safe working conditions, but she just pays with free rooms and looting the rooms of cash paying customers. Once you are gone or she calls to have you arrested, guess who gets your stuff ?  She doesn't actually have to hold anything for 30 days like the law states because the law depends upon there being a record of your registration.

I could care less about proving a lawsuit, because that woman has nothing that I would want.  I'd just like to see her locked up for awhile, not in jail, but in her moldy room, so I can figure out exactly what is so funny about a living creature having epileptic seizures and dying from mold exposure.

My little white fluffy dog went everywhere with me, and he was just so feisty and fun, I couldn't believe it when he suddenly had this crazy seizure fit and died.

Hopefully, the health inspector will handle my complaint promptly, because she warned me not to cause her any problems and started shreiking at me to shut up.

Well Helen, the safe full of jewelry you took from my room, IS stolen jewelry.  You were absolutely correct about that and I showed Officer Webb the 206 detailed receipts to prove it, when he found my empty safe in your office.

He also confirmed that the FBI did NOT tell you to keep the jewelry until they came and got it.  That's just dumb.  It's very very unique antique jewelry and a detailed list has been faxed to the pawn shops, so whoever is found with it,  better have a receipt for it, because it was all purchased through charity auctions that keep great records.

GOOD LUCK !!
