Georgia power Beware of the flat bill plan, HUGE RIP OFF!!! atlanta Georgia
I have lived in the same house since 1995. My electric bills in the summer were $60-100 and $130-$300 in the winter months. Ever since they changed to the "smart meters" my bills have skyrocketed as have a lot of other people's. It's obvious that there is a huge rip off scam going on. Last year on the flat bill payment plan my bills went up to $428 A MONTH!!! I finally got off that plan, pulled out my 13 seer Haier HVAC system and had a brand new 15 seer Carrier system installed 2 months ago. It's fishy to me that the bill for oct-nov this year is pretty much the same as last year despite the fact that i didn't use heat or air until it got cold on oct 31...setting my meter to 60 degrees. A bill that should have been under $80 came to $169! I'm sick of being ripped off for power i'm not even using. I have jumped through hoops with energy audits, weather proofing, insulating, and putting in a high efficiency unit. I am hardly ever home, and use as little power possible. Even my electrician said that he couldn't see how I could ever have a $400 bill in one month, much less getting charged $428 every month!!! Ga Power should not be allowed to hold a monoploy, and the public service commision needs to start protecting the public from their outrageous, unscrupulous billing practices.
