I purchased an entire suite of GE kitchen appliances in December 2015 for our new home: dual fuel range, counter depth refrigerator, dishwasher, microwave and disposal. The disposal is great - no complaints.

The other appliances are another story. I purchased the appliances from an established dealer in our area. I wasn't told that all service must be performed by GE. I went to a local dealer for local service! Be sure to check if get local service before making a large purchase like mine.

I gave my salesperson my list of features that I wanted. As a home cook for more years than I want to admit, certain features I took for granted. My refrigerator does not have a catch tray for drips under the water/ice dispenser. The control panel changes settings just walking past the refrigerator door. You think the ice maker is making ice, but just getting close turns the ice maker off. I can lock the controls, but it locks all controls and all functions from working. The controls must be unlocked to dispense water and ice, then locked again.

My range cooks great but already looks old. The door window is so poorly sealed that there are drips inside the glass I cannot clean off. This is a Profile series model - how are their budget models made?

The dishwasher does not have a rinse and hold cycle or an indicator of time for the cycle to complete. I guess I need a stop watch.

Last but not least is the microwave. After less than one month of use, the touch pad appeared cloudy. A web site stated that the shipping film was not removed. I tried to remove it and, yes, my bad, I damaged the panel. We will bypass the discussion of why the touch pad is so poorly made. I now cover my hands before I use my microwave. GE told me that I could buy a new touch pad/control panel combo or purchase a new oven at cost including shipping and installation for about the same price.

The GE warranty does not cover shoddy materials, only a total break down. At the time I made my decision to exercise the replacement option, I wasn't told of GE's policy that my range must be removed to install the new microwave. We could have had the range moved before the delivery. The GE representative started to move my range over an unprotected, new hickory hardwood floor. So, we self-installed without moving the range (not hard, the bracket was already in place.) GE had the nerve to require us to pay the installation that we did ourselves to protect our floors.

When making a major appliance purchase, RUN!, not walk away from GE.
