This is the third GE that I have been the unfortunate recipient on that is poorly engineered and needed replaced in 18 months and they don't stand behind their flawed engineering and workmanship. I've also been threatened in the past that if the repair man who shows up doesn’t like anything you say, they will leave and you're stuck with your worthless appliance.

This is the letter I sent their Customer Relations Department (That must be a horrible department to work in) that explains my microwave experience.

Regarding: My less than 5-year-old microwave.

 

 

To Whom It May Concern. 

I believe it was less than 5 years ago one of your microwave ovens was installed in a brand-new house we purchased, the last couple of times I cleaned it out I noticed the bottom under the turntable discoloring till the last time a cleaned it to find that it was the paint that wouldn’t stop flaking off. Your people said it wasn’t a known problem with the model that went bad so prematurely so you wouldn’t fix it. The representative asked me to hold to find out what GE would do for me and came back with an insulting $25.00 off a $550.00 replacement. 

This is now the third time I’m a victim of the junk you build and sell to other unsuspecting victims of your poor quality and an engineering department that thinks you can wash dishes on the top shelf with a sprayer under a soup pot on the bottom shelf. Your garbage appliances have cost me over $1,000.00 in just the last 18 months and you expect me to be thrilled with $25.00 off a replacement because you failed miserably in the first of many appliances. 

I think the least you could do is sell a replacement at cost, not $25.00 off so you still make a fat profit for the second piece of junk the consumer must buy because of your failure, poor workmanship/engineering doesn’t deserve rewarded. Needless to say, I bought another brand just as I did the 2 dishwashers, or no wait, dish wetter’s I had to replace and this microwave because your engineers think water flows through stainless steel and washes dishes above a bottom level pot and the paint flakes off the inside of your microwaves.

 

Enclosed please find your insulting offer and I will again post my experience with GE on a public site that alerts people who search the name GE online.
