With all due respect to the company, I can safely say that Gieco has screwed me over and - worse - has gotten away with it. Wanna know how they did it?

About a year ago, August 2017, I bought a car that was around 10k. It was a black Cadillac. Nevertheless, before driving the car, I called Gieco and asked the representative if I should put insurance on the car, regardless of not having the title in hand YET, and she told me that I did not need to put insurance in it because I was covered under my parents insurance plan (for full covering and crashes and collisions). She simply informed me to wait until I had the title at hand and then to put the same insurance that my parents had for their cars. She said that I would be "covered under my parents insurance under crashes and collisions so not to worry." WHY DID I LISTEN TO HER? Probably because it was my first car purchase and I did not know what I was doing whatsoever.  

Later that week of purchasing the vehicle, I crashed the car in an unfortunate raining accident. As I told Gieco about it, they asked me if I was covered and I, of course, replied with a resounding "YES" along with the response that the prior representative had given me before driving the car. (I should have asked for her name before hanging up.) 

Long story short: I have been fighting Gieco and explaining my case to them for about a year BUT, finally stopped in the year anniversary of the collision this past August. From multiple representatives, to supervisors, to whoever else they past me (my case) off to, I answered the same questions and gave everyone the same story. NO ONE helped me. No loop holes, no games, I explained to every single person I got on the phone with for hours on end the EXACT SAME thing. It got to the point where they actually had me question my own story: what happened. Do they not say in the beginning of EVERY single phone call say (something along the lines of) "we record the phone calls for quality and training purposes"??? That went out the door when I asked them to look through the records and search for the only real proof of the conversation I had. They simply "could not find it". It was "no where to be found", HOW LUCKY FOR THEM (SARCASM). Want to know more? I sent them the  Bill of Sale twice, and they "could not find any of the information I sent them." Everything they asked me for, I sent them. The amount of things they asked me in hopes that I would change up the story is upsetting, vulgar and outright disgusting from such a prevalent and big company in our society.

A little background from me: I was 18 when I bought that car and I was amidst going to college in an out-of-state school that cost me around 30k to go to annually. I had to turn down that offer in turn to get 3 jobs and then some to pay off the entire  balance I owed for the car. I had so much going for me and now at 19,  I have to work twice as hard to get it back. It took a year of my life away to save that money  when I could have been working towards my future, education and life. So many things I missed out on because I listened to that initial Geico Rep. Why did I stop after a year? Because I have no hope of Gieco ever paying me back for what they promised me. I'm tired of saying and doing the same things while expecting a different result. 

Gieco took advantage of my lack of knowledge, age, and ignorance. They do not deserve the highly ethical and well moral reputation they currently possess. It was such bad customer service; they lied, and tried to find loop holes to save themselves from paying up. Not to muckrake the company, but you all should know my story to not ever trust them or any other company of similar status. Thanks for reading :)
