Based on the information you had given, you were at-fault in that accident. You admit yourself that the police report was wrong. The insurance do go by the police report. If the report says that you were at fault, then GEICO is responsible for the damages on the truck and your car would need collision coverage to fix your car. GEICO would not have paid for the truck if you were not at-fault because the liable driver would have been the truck driver. Instead of blaming the insurance company for doing what they were suppose to do based on the information they were given, you should had tried to get the police report corrected.
