I purchased a computer from Gateway some 3 months ago. I am pleased with the computer. I am not sure about the service as I have not had the misfortune of calling them with a technical problem. I have been having a problem regarding a payment made to them. I advised customer service of a move I would be making and gave my new address and phone number. Approximately two months after the move I receive a phone call from Gateway advising the payment was not received. I advised the representative the payment was not sent and I forgot about it because a statement was not mailed to my new address, (although the representative called me at my new telephone #). I was asked to give a check over the phone. I complied and all information was repeated and confirmed. A few weeks later I received another call advising the check by phone was returned by the bank and listed as unpaid. I checked with the bank and was advised the check was paid out. I am still receiving phone calls from them advising of this -non payment-. It is amazing that my granmother is having the same problem with them. When I called gateway to inquire why they are not getting customer info accurately. I was advised if the account # is not on the check it is not credited. In the mean time late fees are tacked on because of their incompetence. After I finish payment for this computer and decide to upgrade, I will not do it with gateway. They have gotten too big for their britches.
