Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
I purchased a Sony PSP video game system from them yesterday. It was brand new. I brought it home and opened it up to charge the battery. I wanted to use it as a portable media player. I noticed the headphone jack was on the bottom of the system which prevented me from having stand face up so I could watch it without holding it. I did not think to ask about the headphone jack before I bought it. I realize I can not use it so I decide to pack it up. I bring it back with a receipt all boxed up good as new. The store clerk tells me they can not take it back because it was opened. I asked him why was I not informed of this policy? He says he must have forgot to tell me. Now before people start yelling I should read the sign and the receipt let me say this. I looked for a sign. They dont have one posted anywhere in the store. The return policy on the reciept is a little vague about the policy. I did not think about it when I bought it because if I bought it anywhere else they would return it. I understand not returning software but I have never had a problem returning hardware after 1 day. The store should clearly state the policy in a sign or at least tell you.

Gaming systems and games are of great value and in high demand.

I work for another company who also sells games and gaming systems. Software is more easy to return then systems because there are not a lot of parts and pieces to look at to make sure the customer did not intentionally damage the device(s) themselves. There have been instances where someone will own a system and it stops working. They go out and buy a new one, replace it with the old one and try to return it. I have had this happen to me several times.

I have never been into a store that reads off their entire return policy to every single customer who makes a purchase in their store. That would be too time consuming correct? That is why it is printed at the bottom of the receipt. Considering that the system was not manufactured to your specific needs was something that should have been thought about  before you bought it. If you have a specific need, that's why the employees are there, to inform you. The company I work for has clearly stated at the bottom of the receipt, for all gaming system "see manufactures warranty" in other words, if you have a problem with your system, take it up with the manufacturer, not the store.

"Unopened products may be returned for refund / exchange in 7 days" Pretty clear I think. That aside, as a customer service issue they should've returned it if you had the receipt. If not for refund for store credit at least. At my store you wouldn't have had a problem. Seems like you reported the store and they'll take care of it as they should have.

I dont remember what the receipt said anymore because I have not gotten it back from the store. I would think that this information would be posted on a sign by the register or somewhere you can easily spot it. Every other store you go into clearly states it in a sign.

Receipt required for returns/exchanges. Unopened new items can be returned/exchanged w/in 30 days. Opened new videogames, new PC gaes & new systems can be exchanged for the indentical item w/in 7days. Opened accessories & all used items can be returned/exchanged w/in 7 days. That's what my last receipt from Gamestop said, though it has been awhile since I've bought anything from there. Seems pretty clear to me.

I just noticed they kept my receipt from the PSP. Now I have no proof that I bought it there or have not way of getting it replaced if it is defective. I think they kept it because I was so upset. I will try to contact them when they open tomorrow but I bet they just threw it out.
