I took my 2015 Ford Explorer to Folsom Lake Ford for air conditioning repairs on 5-12-21. They did a great job fixing things, but someone, perhaps while backing this large vehicle out of a parking spot, scraped the side of my car. The scrape is about 15" long and 1/2" wide. And, instead of reporting the damage, it was touched up! But not very well.

I picked up my car on 5-18-21. While I was waiting for the attendant to get the keys, I saw my car in the parking lot. There was a small, white bucket on the asphalt right next to the fresh scrape on the side of my car (though I didn't realize the scrape was there until later, after I drove home). I asked for the keys when the attendant came out of the building with them, and he said, "I have to get it. You're not covered under insurance. I am." What!? I never saw what was in the white bucket because I waited for my car to be brought to me, as I was told. (Interesting afterfact - no one knows why the white bucket was on the ground by my car. No one even admits to seeing it there.)

So, I contacted the company after I saw the damage to my car, and an attendant was working on the case until he went on vacation. Later, I contacted him again to find out where things were at, and he wrote:

"I did follow up with the service manager Robbie and again we just wanted to let you know Folsom Lake Ford would never try to cover up a scrape. For this reason, we would not be participating in the repairs."

Folsom Lake Ford would never try to cover up a scrape, but that doesn't mean an employee afraid of repercussions wouldn't. So, an honest person (me) has to pay the price for a dishonest employee at Folsom Lake Ford because I cannot prove the damage to my car happened there, though I know it did.

So, I will have to pay for the damage. It will cost me around $1000 (the amount of my deductible if my insurance company will handle it and about that much if they won't).

Lesson learned: Take closeup photos of every part of your vehicle before you leave it for any auto service, particularly at Folsom Lake Ford.
