Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?

I hope if you are reading this you will listen to my advice and stay clear of First American Homebuyers Protection.  I had used this company for years and I have to admit at the beginning they were good, but unfortunately throughout the years the caliber of the customer service agents and the technicians they contract with has reached a new low.

I placed a service call on the 21st of July for my A/C and today is August 7th and it is still unresolved.  The people they sent to my house (Northstar Mechanical) are the lowest of the low.  The two guys that showed up I belive are subcontractors and very unprofessional.  Without checking the inside unit they decided I needed freon.  After they put freon I stated that something was wrong because the air was now coming out warm.  The younger of the guys got in my face and told me I didn't know what I was talking about.  I asked them to please verify everything was fine before they left but they said they were in a hurry and left.

The temperature in my house started to rapidly rise.  It went from 79 to 84 in the first hour and to 87 in the second hour.

I called First American and told them what was going on (after being on hold for 30 minutes at least).  I said I had been very patient and that they needed to make this right.  I explained to them they sent people to my home that obviously did something wrong and now my AC is not working at all, whereas before it was at leat holding at 79.  They told me there was nothing they could do until they talked to Northstar Mechanical (who has never answered any of my calls).

The temperature in my home is reaching 90 at this point.  I had to call someone on my own and pay out of pocket to get the AC going again.  The new tech that showed up spent about two hours at my house fixing what the damage the two incompetent clowns from Northstar Mechanical had done.  Everything had to be recalibrated, pressurized, etc.  What a mess.  Now I am out of money and First American Homebuyers Protection said that by policy they don't reimburse in cases like this.

They took over two weeks to get someone to my home, and then the people they sent damaged my system, and they are not responsible????  I didn't pick them, they did!!  They were very rude on the phone to me this morning and  told me I could cancel if I want to, that there is nothng they can do.  When you ask to speak to someone in a supervisory position they tell you there is no one.  Very bad business.  I will save my monthly fee on a special a account for when I need service.  I know it will be cheaper and much less aggravating.

PS-  The very good, reputable AC companies don't do business with them.  I wonder why?

PSS - You have been warned!  Stay away from this company if you expect courteous customer service, good caliber technicians, and peace of mind.  You will not get these with them.  If I can save al least one person from this company then my experience was worth something.
