I should know better. But, the Returnable Item 30 days on the Add To Cart check out gave me a false sense of security. I knew I should have read the return details before clicking CHECKOUT. Much like other people have reported I was lead to their store after a search GARMIN GPS.  I was convinced I was dealing with Garmin. So much so that I called Garmin to return the item.  Garmin searched every which way to find my order.  I said something to the extent of it came from your outlet store - that was the clue the Garmin lady needed!

She immediately stated do you mean factory outlet store?  I said yes, and then she replied unfortunately we are not afflilated with that company.  I then said it was chintzy of Garmin to have this outlet store and not support their products. She then explained that the company is not part of Garmin, that Garmin gets numerous calls that turn out to be products purchased from Factory Outlet Store, she then wished me luck dealing with Factory Outlet. I stated Garmin should do something because the subtly suggest that they are Garmin.

I then found the phone number and email address for factoryoutletstore.com and contacted them.  The CSR barely spoke English and not to disparge anyone, it sounded like an offshore call center (Indian or Pakastani). They were actually nice and prompt on the phone and immediately emailed me the Prodcut Return Form. I returned the product and noticed refund was significantly lower than amount charged.

I called them again and the Pakastani or Indian woman said about restocking fee and initial shipping costs to me.  I said this is not a Buyers Remourse return -this is a defective product return. After a back and forth she waived the restocking fee.  Then we started in on grossly inflated shipping costs. After explaining that I should not be forced to pay for them shipping me a defective produc, she acquiesed and refunded the entire amoumt.

My big problem with them is they trick you into thinking they are the manufacturer, and the boldy state Returnable Item thoughout the Checkout process. A 15% restocking fee is almost criminal for an unseen internet purchase.  Finally, they jack up the initial shipping cost a ridiculous amount.

I think factory outlet got some heat from Garmin because they no longer pop to the top of the google search results page. I am sure we can get the same or better value from more reputable sites - overstock.com, amazon.  I quit buying from eBay years ago due to shady sellers!  As the Garmin lady told me, good luck (dealing with factoryoutletstore.com)!
