Firstly - don't try building your own computer unless you KNOW WHAT YOU'RE DOING! Computers aren't LEGO! Did you try cleaning out the computer? Sometimes smoky/dusty environments can really ruin a cooling system. Have an outside tech take a look at it - you never know right?

Basicly the same thing here, fails at boot, hangs a BIOS. Sent it in for RMA, they replaced the RAM, that of course fixed nothing. Called tech support, the idiot trys to tell me it's an issue with the OS software drives! Hello, it won't pass the POST, so the OS hasn't loaded! Worst mistake I ever made was buying this thing! Never Again Emachines - Never Again Gateway

I purchased an eMachine a few months ago. It lasted 30 minutes. It wouldn't come on after that. Nothing but a black screen. Keyboard was useless. Absolutely nothing worked. I called emachine's customer service, who claimed something had jogged loose during the computer's truck ride to the store. I was told to ship the entire computer back to them for repair. They refused to replace it. If I'd wanted a refurbished computer, I would have bought one -- and not for the price of new. I consider myself lucky that this piece of junk failed within 30 mintues and not 30 days. I was able to return it to the store for a full refund. As far as I'm concerned, eMachine's "customer service" is as stable as their computers. I'll never purchase another.

I'd suggest in the future build your own computer instead of going to a pre-built mfr. All companies skimp on their quality and have 30% or more markup on their products. I've purchased individual parts (motherboard, drive, cpu, fans, case) and assembled my own computer for years -- and none of the machines I've built myself have ever broken down. It's easier than working on a car, and if you can use a screwdriver and plug a phone jack in -- then you are completley capable of doing it. Just my suggestions to prevent being ripped off in the future. If you can't trust a company -- then do it yourself -- and this is something that you CAN do yourself!
