Complaint Review: Elizabeth Calfee - Internet

First of all, I want to make it clear, so everyone can see I'm not accusing this person(s) of getting any $ from me. I wanted to send this in to help others that may be quicker to send their personal information without investigating first, because they could've gotten my $, or worse...

I have been looking for a reasonably priced used Honda for about 2 wks, mostly looking online, through those online places that both dealers & private sellers list their vehicles for sale. I was very interested in a 2000 Honda Prelude with only 97k miles on it for only $2,000!

I sent the "seller" an email to show my interest & ask if it was still available. The "seller" was listed as being in Apollo Beach, FL, about a 45 minute drive for me. The tel. # listed however, was a fax machine. I checked the # on 411.com & found the number was registered in Miami, FL.

Although it made no sense, I figured maybe it was a typo. I never got a reply from the email I sent the "seller", so, like all the other cars I liked, I figured it was sold. I couldn't stop thinking about this car & the deal. I was bummed.

Then, low & behold, the next day, when I finally had moved on, I got a reply email to the email I sent inquiring about going to look @ the car since it was only a 45 minute drive from where I live.

The following is the email reply I got from her (exactly as they sent it), including the email I sent her inquiring about the car...

If you are interested in my car you should know that the car is as good as new, it has never been wrecked or damaged,the car is in excelent condition. The total price that I 'm asking for the car including shipping and insurance fees will be $2,000.00USD. The car is absolutely perfect, it has a clear title, has never been repaired, never been involved in any type of accident or had any paint or body work done! I live in Scotland now, where European specs are different from the American ones and it costs me too much driving this car legally here and also there is nobody interested in buying it here that's why I am selling it so cheap hoping to find a buyer since the car is located in USA at Moneybookers company. I would like to use MoneyBookers Shipping Department a third party service to handle this transaction for our both safety and comfort. (they will take care of the shipping/payment).

If you are still interested just send me your full name and shipping address and I will open a case and they will contact you with all the informations about our deal.

To make it even more obvious something was wrong with this whole picture, I called AutoTrader.com to ask if they had heard of any scams sounding like this, the guy on the phone was soooo nice & really tried to help me, he could not find any listing under the phone number for this person, the email address they used or even the stock # they provide for each vehicle that get's listed on their site.

It was there the night before! So, I went to the site myself, typed in the same info that brought the listing up before & it was gone!!! AND I found the same ad on a different website the night before & it was still listed on that website.

I sent "Elizabeth" another email immediately after "she" sent me the one about sending her my personal information. I asked her to please provide me with a ph. # for herself, or the company she said the car was located so I could speak to someone about the car. Guess what, she never replied.

I forwarded the information to a friend of mine, who sent me a link to Ripoff Report & I saw the same company she was trying to have me send my money to, had ripped other people off! Thank goodness I didn't give her my information. It may have been the 1st step to me getting ripped off for 2k!

So, as lame as this may seem, I am FURIOUS that people do this to other human beings. I work dang hard for my money. 2k is not alot to some, but to a working wife with a family, it's alot!
