Electronic Arts Interactive aka EA Interactive recently released a game for the Playstation 3, Xbox 360, and PC called Battlefield 3.

This game was released on October 25, 2011 and was purchased by me and millions of other people worldwide. Unfortunately, many people could not log on to the Multiplayer due to the EA Servers being "overloaded".

Not only was this a silly problem any company could have resolved within a few hours, but this has continued to occur all week. I have not been able to play since the 25th of October 2011 and it is now November 1, 2011.

I tried returning this game at GameStop, but they said EA would not take any opened returns so all I could get was a new copy WITHOUT the required online pass. Although my code seems to work fine, I cannot connect to multiplayer.

What happens is the following: Click on Multiplayer > EA Online connection was lost. > Click 'OK' > "Loading..." appears at bottom of right screen > Game becomes unresponsive > Exit required

Spoke to an EA Rep before trying to return game at GameStop for over an hour. We troubleshooted everything from trying to connect my PS3 directly to the modem, to changing the DMZ on my router, and all these other things that made no sense whatsoever. I can play other games, why not Battlefield 3?!
At the end of conversation with EA Rep, he admits that its definitely a problem on their end with their servers.
If it's a server issue, why does my game become unresponsive after choosing Multiplayer? That does not seem valid.
Even if it were a server issue, I have not been able to play the game for which I paid for in almost a week nor have I been able to get a refund!

I highly recommend that all users having issues with Battlefield 3 to file a complaint with Ripoff Report as well as the BBB!
In this day and age, consumers don't need to take this sort of treatment from any company - file a complaint and spread the word.

Millions of people bought and are playing the game, only a few thousand are having problems, thats on par with what usually happens when a large multiplayer game launches. They simply dont have enough space on there servers. As to your comment about it being a silly problem? it's not, servers are expensive, most companys perfer to low ball how many they initially set up. They can always and often do add more later. However it would not take a "few hours" to do this, it may even take a full month to get everyone online, but again this is nothing new. This happens EVERY time a new multiplayer game launches, have you been living under a rock?

Yeah your not going to be able to return it to Gamestop, nor should you, within the month there will be more than enough servers up and running and you'll be able to play to your hearts content. What I can tell you is that indeed server space is the issue, your PS3 tries to connect and losses connection because the servers are too busy with all the other people playing, it then becomes unresponsive because it detects that nothing is wrong and so it keep trying to connect to the servers.

"We troubleshooted everything from trying to connect my PS3 directly to the modem, to changing the DMZ on my router, and all these other things that made no sense whatsoever. I can play other games, why not Battlefield 3?!"

These are logical steps to make sure it is on EA's end and not yours, do you have no understanding of how your system sends and recieves information so you can play multiplayer? It seems like your nothing more than a spolied brat who knows nothing about how is systems actually work and has been lucky enough to never run into a problem ever. Just to make it clear to you, connecting the PS3 directly to the modem gets rid of the middle man in your system, this would be your router. This is to make sure that the modem it'self is sending and recieving the information, changing the DMZ is to make sure that the information the PS3 sends to the router and in turn to the modem is allowed to be sent, if the DMZ is incompatable the router wont even bother sending the information to the modem.

Yes, due to the trouble shooting you and the rep did he was able to tell that it's definatly a server space problem. See above for the answer to why it becomes unresponsive, it is valid, once again you look like you have no idea what your doing. I too have bought Battlefield 3, though for the PC and I also have been unable to play. However you dont see me bitching and complaining because as a rule of thumb you give companies a month to resolve server issues, thats usually about the time it takes to get everything sorted out. Your not going to get a refund because you bought the game at Gamestop, I hope you have learned a very valuable leason which is dont ever do business with Gamestop, just look up Gamestop in any gaming forum and you'll see why most gamers tend to stay away from them.

I highly recommend you grow a brain before you come onto the internet shouting about how you've been wronged by EA. Dont get me wrong, EA is certainly not loved in the world of gaming however this is just retarded, the game has been out a whole week and you cant play it so you come here spouting ignorance. Like I've pointed out before, most big online games take about a month give or take to get all there server issues worked out. Just chill out and play something else for a week
