14 months ago our family decided to get a 2nd vehicle for the family. Within a month of getting the vehicle at Drivetime we had to take it to a dodge dealership to replace the water pump. The doors stopped locking, the gas guage works when it wants and just last week we had to replace a belt after hearing a massive noise that mimicked a gun blast. It was scary and it left debris in the parking lot we were leaving..

After putting close to 2000 into this vehicle, today, we had the scariest incident of all happen while driving. There was a major gas leak and the car began to smoke. We had to call the fire department to be sure it was not about to explode or catch fire. They disconnected the battery to prevent any electrical charge to the engine that could cause a potential fire.

I am at my witts end. We have 4,young  children and jobs of course which require us to drive to them. We cannot afford to travel in such unsafe or potentially deadly circumstances. After contacting Drivetime to see what they can do as far as getting into a different vehicle that is safe, we were not helped and feel as though our only option is to abandon it at the Drivetime we purchased it. This is not the first time I have heard complaints about Drivetime. But, it is my first negative run in with them and we need help!!!

People do not go to them for a family vehicle or any vehicle at all. This is scary and such a waste of money! I am wanting to throw in the towel on this!

warranty company contacted

a responsible one would contact the warranty company and I did contact the warranty company and they hardly cover anything!.. What they do cover are things that may possibly never break. They do not cover transmission OR the location of the motor where the issue was. Conveniently. I did not turn my vehicle in. I got someone to fix it with me all weekend long. Also, a responsible person wouldn't just turn in the vehicle. Obviously I am fully aware of the consequences if I chose to do so. I have 4 children and must protect my credit. But when you do all you can to take care of a vehicle that is used or not and the warranty stinks and you see other similar complaints it makes you feel that you have gotten got! I would love to simply leave the vehicle at the dealership and go. My 4 young children deserve to safely ride in a vehicle.. Same with myself. But, of course that os something i would never do...Thank you.

The car was under their warranty, wasn't it?  It would be reasonable to assume the average person would have taken it to them for warranty covered service, but you did not mention that.  You continue on to talk about other alledged problems with the car and conclude by saying you gave up the car as a voluntary REPO.  Yes, its a REPO and they will come after you for the rest of the loan amount.  Your last statement is to discredit them.  I'm wondering...
