Dollar Rent A Car ,Thrifty Car Rental, Hertz Rent a Car. all owned by same company Dollar said my credit car wasn't working, the credit card from Chase that gives me free car rental insurance, so I was stuck paying for their overpriced company provided damage waiver. My credit card worked at every gas station that I swiped it at on this trip. Las Vegas Nevada
I reserved online. I didn't buy the online damage waiver that the website offered. I have a Chase Southwest Rapids Reward credit card that provides car rental insurance. I declined the damage waiver from Dollar as I said I was covered. Three clerks all said my credit card wasn't being read by their swipe devices. Since I couldn't use my card with the car rental insurance provided, I had to take their rental damage waiver which is expensive, as I don't want to take the risk of damage to a new car as I only drive a used car with only liability. I then tried my Chase Card at other places, like gas stations and the card swiped every time. I think this is a scam, as if they know you have credit card coverage on the card you are using, then they claim its not reading, so you have to use a different card, one with no insurance, and they want you to buy their damage insurance.
