I contracted with Hertz Van lines 4/2/2016 & gave down payment. I was given an estimate for my 650 sq ft apartment believing this would be worth the thousands of dollars required to move my property from Ca to Az. No hassles, just pack up all my things and wait for delivery at new address. SO WRONG- on 4/21/2016 the scheduled pick up date the nightmare began and continued. No arrival or call the day agreed to pick up all my thing. In anticipation , I had put my personal property I would be taking with me out back and several items on front lawn to load. It was a no show no call from movers and no answer at Hertz. Later that night it poured rail, soaking everything I had put out. The following day called Hertz who stated Driver would give me a call that day for time to be at apartment for loading and would look over items to be shipped and confirm estimate or change if needed. Two men on a Bekins truck covered with graffiti arrived at 10:30AM. I was asked to sign a blank inventory document, and when quested, he stated that he would look through apartment and revise estimate if needed. I showed him the items to go, he said fine and began loading my things. I left. And bought them lunch & after break restarted loading. A few hours later my aquarium need to be boxed and told it would be cheaper if I went and got a box myself. I was gone 30 or so minutes and when I walked in he took large aquarium, down , breaking the top. I then went to rear of house and other mover was digging and looking around. When seeing one of my personal items had been taken out, I grabbed it saying this does not go. I went back up front and the driver stated that they had loaded everything they could for the price originally quoted and I would have to pay 3 to 4 thousand more to take bedroom items and backyard items. I was in state of shock! What did he mean? He was taking only 2/3 of belongs, wanted $2,000 more now to take what had been loaded!!! Called Hertz with no answer leaving my number as it was an emergency, without response calling three times. Desperate I called X husband who came over, was of little use and left after getting them to load my baby grand piano. He said pay them the money. The driver called his boss, whom he called 'BOSS' and I asked to speak with him but driver hung up. Not knowing what to do I took pictures of items on truck, they had me sign many documents, in a daze, I signed. I was told I couldn't have copies of anything but inventory list. He would take pictures of others for me. At that they let after asking for a TIP, saying they would call with delivery date. It was to be May 1st or 2nd, he wouldn't confirm. Next day. Of course no call and when called it was to ask for weigh tickets they had mistakenly left with me. I told him NO. I called the company that they put the inventory on, Galaxy Moving and storage. Their number was "No longer in service!!. Frantic not knowing where my things were, if they had just been stolen, etc and called police. They said to wait till Mpmday and call Hertz! I was forced to rent a 6 X 12 u haul trailer, hire two people to load remaining items, help cleanup, with drive to Az. Took almost 20 hrs at 55 mph to get there having missed my move in date of the 1st or 2nd. Paid two notes hotel for the help, in addition to two tickets for their return to California after unloading. When contacted by a David with Call Me Van Lines, finding that was "BOSS" I was informed he would be at new address, which was no longer original date. Now I couldn't take delivery until the 6th or 7th. Talking to Hertz the Th was finalized. In the meantime I wrote to DOT with my story. I was told an investigator would be present on that day. I talked with Hertz on the 6th, ensuring date telling them an agent would be present. An hour later boss , David called to notify me all my property was being left in California and to come and get it myself and pay fees.' WHAT WAS HAPPENING, WHEN WOULD I WAKE UP!!!! DOT began an investigation at BOSSES headquarters in Florida. It was agreed that I pay remaining balance on original estimate and he was to notify me of delivery date. It was for 5/22/2016, a Sunday. one month after he took and keep my things. An agent from dot went out of his way again and was here when delivered. By another company called Success moving co. So confusing they manner in which this type of business operates. My bicycle was not on truck, nor metal detector, not antique movie stand, brass 4'candle holders, my BB pistol, and portrait of tarot card designer.any boxes packed had been unpacked then repacked, broken glass, missing fragile Hutch glass which had been unpacked. Haven't finished unpacking to get more depressing news. On top of this, delivery driver wanted $75 because they had to walk over 75 feet to my door and David of Call Me Van Lines invoiced me for shuttle and storage fees where he dropped my things on the 7th!!! A total of $1,300 ! What's next?? Please wake me!!
