Before May 2002, Cyberwing Communications was a very reputable company. I signed up for their webhosting services on May 9. I did not get my account setup till sometime around late May or early June. I figured that maybe they had their hands full, so I did not worry about the late setup date.

However, two weeks into the service, my site started slowing down. From what I gathered, they were experiencing server problems. Once again, I waited patiently for them to fix it.

All of a sudden, around July 3-4, they shut off their servers in Maine. I do not know the real story behind it. All I know is that customers were not warned about the outage.

Cyberwing Communications' CEO, Shawn White, assured us that they would be back up in three (3) days. Then, it turned into one week, two weeks, and so on. It was very upsetting.

During the outage period, there were very little updates. Shawn posted a link to Constant Contact's mailing list. I subscribed. However, I only received one (1) update. The fact that Shawn is claiming that he sent out many updates is a lie.

Customers were left in a limbo during this period. We had no way of contacting Cyberwing Communications. There were no valid email and phone information. What does that tell you about this company, huh?

The only support they provided was via IRC (Internet Relay Chat). But even there, the "staff" had no clue as to what was going on. We were given "deadline" dates as to when the servers or when Shawn would address the issue. Most of these ended up in broken promises.

Instead of formally apologizing to his customer base, Shawn posted lies and vague information on the issue. Knowing that people were waiting for his updates, he made the critics look bad. He, basically, painted them as the problematic ones. That is no way of treating one's customers. It is a very unprofessional manner.

As to his claims that he is still in good terms with PayPal, I believe that this is a lie. I've received and others, as well, email from PayPal claiming that Shawn White was at fault, but they could not recover any funds from his account to process refunds. To this day, I'm still waiting for my refund. August 9 is just around the corner.
