Credit Karma may be marginally useful in keeping track of your credit score (although the score they report usually differs wildly from other sites I've used, even though they all say they're reporting my TransUnion score), but their credit card recommendations are worse than useless. None of the credit cards they have ever recommended saying my chance of approval is 'Good' have ever approved me. Not one, not ever. All I have for following their recommends is additional inquiries on my credit report, which have cumulatively lowered my credit score. I don't expect every application to be approved, but these guys are batting 0%!

It is my opinion that there is no method to the recommendations Credit Karma makes, that they just get a commission on every card application they generate, and they label your chances of approval as 'Good' based only on whichever company is offering the highest commission at the time.

As an indicator of how concerned Credit Karma is about customer complaints, here is an e-mail I sent them regarding this matter:

"Sirs: None of the credit cards you have ever said I have a good chance of approval have ever approved me. Not one, not ever. All I have for following your recommends is extra hard inquiries on my credit report, which have cumulatively lowered my credit score. Whatever system you are using to assess members likelihood of approval is less than worthless."

...and here is the response I got from them:

Notice my original e-mail did not mention anything about having difficulty registering. Notice, also, that their response did not in any way, shape, or form address the issue about which I actually contacted them.
