Countrywide Home Loans Corp. Ever-Increasing Estimates Of Closing Costs Dallas Texas
Several weeks ago, I approached Countrywide to refinance my house; they have the existing loan, which is at a very high rate. They agreed to do the deal and estimated my closing costs would be about $10K.
Then, the estimate went to $11,500. Then, it went to $12,500. Just days before my rate lock expired (it was a very good rate), they said "At least $14,000." Then, when they finally sent something in writing, it was almost $17,000.
Well, that pissed me off but good. And being a lawyer, I have decided to do what any lawyer would do here: sue them under several legal theories. I would like very much to sue them in a class action -- that will get their attention.
To that end, it would be helpful to hear from others who have gotten the shaft as did I.
If Countrywide has treated you as badly as it did me, I'd like to hear from you so that, together, we can return the favor.
