CMS Consolodated Media Services Cross Media Marketing Corp Filed for bankruptcy ripoff victimized many consumers Kennesaw Georgia
Cross Media Marketing Corp, AKA CMS etc. a New York based firm with offices in several states including (Kennesaw) Georgia has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection and has fired 300 of it's Kennesaw staff.
Cross Media's President is Ron Altbach, Deana Nilsen is head of Human Resources and is based in Kennesaw.
The company is a direct marketer and seller of magazine subscriptions whose telemarketers make between $10-12 an hour. Employees will be given five days pay.
Cross Media (CMS) combined traditional direct mail, telemarketing and e-mail to sell magazine subscription packages, discount club memberships and telecom services. It also marketed coins, collectibles, exercise equipment and videos.
60 collections, customer service and accounting employees will remain indefnitely to tie up loose ends but will also be let go when the company closes the Kennesaw office.
Cross filed 6/16/03 for Chapter 11, the day of it's first installment of $350,000 FTC civil penalty was due.

While the mailing address for this firm is indeed 'Kennesaw, Ga.' it is in fact not inside the city limits but is in unincorporated Cobb County, (a few miles NW of Atlanta) located in a business park. Kennesaw is better known for the 'great locomotice chase' which started here at 'Big Shanty' and the engine is still on display in a newly redone museum here. It is a d**n shame that this bunch of crooks have a 'Kennesaw' address as it gives a sleepy little city a bad name across the whole country, but at least it is going out of business.
