I too have been had by Circuit City and their extended warranty, Citiadvantage. After sending in my Toshiba laptop for it shutting off intermittently over 8 times and asking for them to honor their motto of if they can't fix it they'll replace it, they failed to follow through. I even had to send it in twice for their own errors of breaking my USD ports and motherboard replacement.

Still, 4 years later after I initially sent in the computer, I still have the same problem. Their argument now is under their lemon law they have to replace the same "part" three times before replacing the entire unit. Funny, when I was coerced into purchasing the warranty and after speaking with all of the sales reps from Circuit City and Citiadvantage, on my 9th complaint do they give me this bit of info. I asked, what does it take to get this thing fixed then if you guys can't figure out the problem? No answer from a supervisor named Kurt and no response. He thinks it is my mouse or software causing the entire computer to shut off on it's own.

Last time they tried blaming it on my wireless internet card. I am now reformatting it again at home to see if it will "fix" the problem according to their instructions. Waste of time and waste of money. DO NOT BUY THEIR EXTENDED WARRANTY or you too could be going through these issues, lies, BS and stuck with a product that does not work. Better yet, stay away from Circuit City altogether and just order a Dell. At least they have good support and will actually replace the item instead of giving a bunch of lame excuses. When I told Circuit City Advantage this and mentioned possible small claims to get it fixed, they said I have to do what I have to do. GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE! Never again will I buy from them.

If you didnt buy the protection plan you would of had to pay for all the stuff they have done to your computer as it is. That whould of cost alot more. It is the manufacture that did a bad job putting together you computer im sorry that we dont have time to watch each one get put together.

Does it shut off all of the time or was it just 8 times total. If it only happened 8 times in four years you are lucky. What other parts did they need to fix and did anything work for a long period of time? If it was shutting off it was overheating which will happen. Sometimes people let the fans get dusty and they cant circulate air. If it's somthing simple like that there is no need to replace it. If its something more servere (shutting off all of the time) then they should fix it or give you a comperable laptop. Again if your laptop shut off 8 times in four years thats hardly a problem. It was just running a bit hot at that moment.
