Seems like your protesting a little too much for someone that is not directly involved in the posted dispute? (Other then the fact that you are the one that recomended this particular auto repair to the poster and towed his vehicle there.) I recently had work done on my Ford Windstar van at Robinsons Auto Repair in Calhoun. (who also will come to the vehicle to repair it if requested). They did an admirable job, so I personally know there are other auto repairs that more then likely would have been pleased to receive the work as well . It appears as if you might have an agreement with Cherokee to divert business to them. (Which is acceptable, it is done all the time.) Just remember, at times something may go wrong. Not everyone is going to be pleased with the repair done. As for the poster and his son saying it was the ignition module, it is the auto repairs responsibility to repair the correct part. Is Mr. Moss or his son a mechanic? The mechanic should have made the diagnosis not the customer, after-all the mechanic is the expert and is being paid to fix the correct part. For instances, I took my van to Robinsons thinking I needed an alignment because the passenger front tire felt funny and was pulling to the right. I found I also need a tie-rod arm and the shoulder it fit into, two front tires and an alignment. Now as a lay person there is no way I would have know I needed these items (not even sure if I am saying the correct thing now, but think that is what I was told). Any who, it came to over 300.00, whereas just an alignment would have been 39.95. I also sat at the repair shop for about 3 or 4 hours. Happily I might add. We need to remember, not only does the mechanic have to fix the problem but they must find it first and there are other customers to be taken care of as well. Mr M, you have to remember at times it might take more than one try to get the correct repair done on a vehicle, or at times there may be more then one thing wrong with the vehicle. It is not the auto repairs fault your auto broke down. They generously stayed open to try to accomadate you and repair your vehicle, at may I add, a very fair price! This is not 1960, auto repairs can be expensive. As for you and your wife having to sit and wait in an uncomfortable waiting room while the repairs are being done, be fair, an auto repair is not a 'comfortable' place to wait regardless of where you are! It seems to me from your post Cherokee Auto Repair went above and beyond to help you and you in return are showning no appreciation for their kindness to you and your wife. No one wants to be the victim of an auto breakdown, but there is no need to bite the hand that tried to help you.

The following are my personal feelings regard the ongoing dispute between Mr. Moss and the owner of Cherokee Auto Repair based on what I know. I later learned that Mr. Tatum had remained at his business until after 9pm attempting to repair the problem. And much later learned that Mr. Moss had placed a blog on www. Ripoffreport.com along with requested a charge back of all charged incurred during the repair of this vehicle. I have read this entire blog and frankly I was shocked, not at the accused incompetence of Mr. Tatum or Cherokee Auto Repair but at the nerve of Mr. Moss. First let me say that I have been in the city for most of my life and know many of its citizens and business owners. I personally feel that Mr. Tatum operates one of the most honest and reputable repair facilities in Calhoun or Gordon County. Despite the fact that it was after 5pm on July 3rd and there was no other shop that would consider taking Mr. Moss vehicle. I would not carry a vehicle to a repair facility that I would not carry my mother or family to as my recommendation also can look good or bad on my own company. Mr. Moss stated that: He began, without evidence of doing any diagnostics though I didn't stay for the determination I personally watched Mr. Tatum begin the diagnostics myself. stating that the problem could be any one or all of three separate problems (crank sensor, ignition coil, or 'ig... module) - The ignition module was proposed by Mr. Moss to Mr. Tatum during there first conversation. And it could have very well been any of the three as you cannot diagnose a problem when it is not happening at that time. I had no choice because I knew of no other garage to turn, too. Mr. Moss is right he had no other garage to turn to because there was no other facility in the county who would take a vehicle in past 5pm on a Friday. Mr. Moss should be thankful that Mr. Tatum was gracious enough to take it in at all. And then stay until after 9pm to attempt to resolve your problem. We sat in his hard back chairs WITHIN the shop for the next 4-5 hours. I do not understand how Mr. Moss is coming to this time as he clearly stated himself that, at around +-6:30PM he advised me that they were about to get my car finished. Mr. Moss's vehicle was dropped off at 5:20pm per his credit card transaction with my company. Furthermore I have sat in the so called hard back chairs and they are not hard backed, they are standard cushioned(thick blue cloth padding) chairs that interlock together which are commonly used in doctors offices and government buildings and are available at any office supply store. I know of no facilities at this time that offer recliners for there customers. The 'Rapair (your spelling) Order (unprofessional) was nothing much more than scribbling. I have personally seen these repair orders and they are standardized tickets which are used by most facilities and are available at any printing or office supply store. And furthermore they are more professional that the plan generic receipts which I currently use for my company. he was not going to work on the 4th of July because he had obligations to his wife and family for that day Cherokee Auto Repair, to the best of my knowledge, has never been open on Saturday and he owes no obligation to Mr. Moss to do so. I then gave him permission to finish the work on Monday July 7 with him agreeing to give me credit for 2 of the parts (crank sensor and ig...module) is this the ignition module that I specifically heard you request? The above comments are my opinion and given because Mr. Moss has portrayed Cherokee Auto Repair as a rip-off and a con-artist and in doing so has cast bad light onto me personally and to my company as I am the one who recommended his business. I do believe that someone here is trying to rip someone off but I believe that the tables are turned. If I thought for a second that Cherokee Auto Repair (Mr. Tatum) had done anything out of the way or attempted to take advantage of anyone I would cease to refer any further business. But I do not feel this way and at this point I have seen, thru the evidence that I have been provided, that this is not the case. And until that changes I will continue to refer customers to Mr. Tatum in the faith that he will treat them honestly, respectfully and appropriately which will in turn shed a favorable light on both mine and his company alike.

On Friday July 3, 2008 at approximately 4:46pm I was contacted by Gordon County E911 dispatch in regards to a stranded motorist. The dispatcher stated that they had been contacted by a motorist who had requested a wrecker to tow his vehicle. The dispatcher stated that the vehicle was a red in color Chevrolet Blazer and that it was located at the I75 southbound rest area near mile marker 320. I responded to the location where I met with, Thomas Moss and his wife. Mr. Moss stated that he was traveling and south on I75 and that several times his vehicle had quit running. Mr. Moss stated that each time it stopped that he would let it set for a little while and that it would start back up and they would continue to drive. Mr. Moss stated that this had happened several time before they reached there present location. Mr. Moss stated that he wished for the vehicle to be towed to a shop in hopes that it could be repaired so as they could continue there trip. Mr. Moss stated that he had spoken to an acquaintance on the telephone (who I believe he stated was some relation to him) and that this person had advised that it could possibly be the ignition module. I informed Mr. Moss that I may know a shop that might take it (as it was already after 5pm on the eve of the 4th of July). I contacted Cherokee Auto Repair and spoke with the owner, Tracey Tatum. I advised Mr. Tatum of the situation and he agreed to take a look at the vehicle. During the conversation I stated to Mr. Tatum that the customer believed per his previous telephone conversation that the vehicle possiblely needed an ignition module. Before loading the vehicle I tried to start it, the vehicle started with no sign of any problems. Through previous experience I was aware that diagnosing a problem that is not currently happening is near impossible until the problem occurs again. The vehicle was loaded and transported to Cherokee Auto Repair where we where met by the owner, Tracey Tatum. Mr. Moss introduced himself and specifically stated that he believed per a previous telephone conversation that the problem was the ignition module. Before I unloading the vehicle I met with Mr. Tatum at the rear of my rollback and advised him that the vehicle had started at the time in which I had loaded it, and made a comment regarding the difficultly in finding a problem that is not currently happening. As I began to unload the vehicle, directly onto a waiting open rack, I again cranked the vehicle. I drove the vehicle onto the four post rack, placed it in park, and exited leaving the vehicle running. I raised my bed and returned it to its locked position. I returned to the cab and began writing the customers invoice. Mr. Moss's credit card was charged at 5:20pm. I left Cherokee Auto Repair minutes later. It should be noted that before leaving that I personally observed the owner, Tracey Tatum open the drivers door of the vehicle connect his Snap-On Modis Modular Scanner in order to check for trouble codes. It should also be noted that this scanner is top of the line at a cost starting at $8k dollars not including software (http://www1.snapon.com/modis). To the best of knowledge no other repair facility in Gordon County GA has any type of diagnostic equipment even comparable. After leaving Cherokee Auto Repair I had neither further contact nor correspondence with Mr. Moss. Respectfully submitted, J. R. Acree Owner Affordable Towing
