We are in our 60's and have had our credit ruined and our home foreclosed on by Chase Manhattan Mortgage company.  We were FORCED into the foreclosure by Chase by thier 'policy' of not helping homeowners until they have missed three payments on thier mortgage.

After 6 and 1/2 years of making payments on our home, never late once in the whole time, my wife broke her back and was dis-abled for over eight months.  During that time, we closed our 401k's, used all our savings, and did without financially to make sure that our mortgage payments were made in full and on time each month.

When I called Chase home finance to try and get some help because we could no longer make the payments, we were current and were told by a gentleman that Chase could not help us until we were behind for ninety days and that we would have to wait.

We waited ninety days and then called Chase again....they gave us one phone number after another to call and after almost a month of efforts, we were finally put in touch with the mitigation department who told us we were too far behind in payments for Chase to help us and that our home was going into foreclosure on the 3rd. of November, 2009.

They said their investors would not approve a loan modification or refinance because we had waited too long.  When we told them what had happened, the lady we were talking to was un-concerned and obviously could not have cared less as she said "There is nothing we can do for you".

We now face bankruptsy, legal fee's, destroyed credit reports, higher interest rates, and in our sixties, unable to buy a home for retirement thanks to Chase Manhattan Mortage Company.  If you want to do business with them, I suggest you think again.

My husband and I have fell behind with our mortgage by 3 months due to him being laid off two different times in 4 months. I applied for a loan modification and was told that if I made three consecutive payments I would qualify for the program (Making Home Affordable). I have made over 11 payments on time and continue to get late fees each month because I have not paid the 3 months that are behind. My credit is affected each month because I have those 3 months that I was behind. I am trying to make it better but they are not willing to work with me. I asked for a payment schedule to catch up but they said no. The only suggestion that they gave me was put your house up for sale. I do not want to sell my home because we can afford it now. It is fustrating that when you have an unsuspecting situation arise I can't get any help to make it better. I do not know what else to do. I can't pay the entire balance due in one month.
