CAMEL MOVING & STORAGE PACKING, MOVING AND STORAGE SERVICES PACOIMA, California
On December 30, 2010 my Son and family woke up to find 8 to 10 inches of water on the floor of their home. They allowed Camel Movers to pick up all the household furnishings and take them to their storage facilities. T
They billed my son $8,925 which AAA paid. The storage charge for the space selected was $350 per month. The reconstruction contractor took over 10 months to complete the repairs so that the family could move back.
Camel demanded another $7,550 cash for the return of the water-damaged furniture. Under great duress I agreed to sign their self-drafted release documents and pay the ransom by check, which the owner demanded that I accompany him the bank for cashing.
As the family was in the process of buying replacements for the water-damaged items, I arranged for sufficient space at Canoga Self Storage, on Canoga Avenue in Canoga Park. Their monthly rate was $175, or 50% of Camel's inflated monthly charges.
The return was arranged with my grandson, Johnathan supervising the Camel movers in the placement of the furniture and boxes in the unit. It became obvious that most of the "full packout to storage" paid for in the first billing had not been done.
Table legs were not wrapped. Upholstered living room furniture was not plastic-wrapped and all other furnishings were either unwrapped or thrown randomly into cardboard cartons. No "unrapping or trush (trash)" removal was done as I inspected the site later in the day. Wooden furniture was not protected in any way.
The entire staff seemed hostile and defensive and totally uncooperative in my contacts with them. They would not negotiate or compromise as they knew that they "held a gun to owur heads". This is without doubt the most crooked, unethical, and untrustworthy company and owners without concience that I have ever met in my 91 years on this earth!!
