Blink Fitness 30th Street Scrupulous Cancellation Policies New York New York
When I initially signed up for Blink fitness one of the key considerations was it's lack of having to signed up for a year. I was told the membership was month to month and if I wanted to cancel or suspend my service at any time I could without any fees or cancellation charges. I specifically ask the sales rep multiple times because I experienced the same issue with The New York Sports Club. However, today I tried to cancel and was informed that since I had the Blue membership there would be a $60 dollars cancellation charge, and if I wanted to downgrade to they're grey membership which doesn't have a cancellation charge, that would be $60 dollars as well. If I was told this upfront I would have never signed up with Blink Fitness. In addition, upon speaking with the manager Kevin (district manager Cisco Brojo was actually on a call for 30 mins) I was informed that this information was clearly in my email. I went back and retrieved the email and this clause was in fact not in the email, it was in a external link, way at the bottom of the email.
Partly I will take blame for not throughly going through the contract however, Blink seems to have deliberately gone out of it's way to omit this yearly commitment, in addition either the sales rep was seriously missed informed or just didn't care and wanted his sales. Regardless, it's sad that a company needs to go through such measures to keep it's customers. On side note, as I wanted for the general manager Cisco, who was on that call for thirty minutes three other customers requested cancellations. Two also reconsidered once they heard the $60 fee which accompanied they're request.
I use to recommend Blink despite they're lack of towels, small quarters and packed gyms, because the price was right and they seemed upfront, however now I would strongly recommend going with someone else. You get what you pay for.
