Contacted bestfares.com early January 2003 to become a member in order to book a trip to France for March. Finally contacted them, purchased tickets, received tickets, no problem.

March 2003, war broke out, and we decided to postpone the trip. I was on hold for 1.5 hours before someone finally picked up the phone and said that they wouldn't open for another 15 minutes. Once they opened, I talked with one of their customer reps, and she explained to me that I would have 2 months to rebook my trip.

After determining the rescheduled date, I called the customer rep back (get their name and extension number... that's the only way you'll ever talk to anyone that works there again), and she then informed me that she told me wrong... I had to complete my travel 2 months from the day the war started. After a mild heart attack, I finally got them, the airline, and a sane witness to back me up on a conference call, and come to find out bestfares.com has NO idea how to handle the situation. They needed me to send them the tickets back, request credit from the airline, then send me the credit to rebook my next trip within a year. Let's just say they were pretty far off.

Now that the war is over and it's been almost 2 months since I postponed my trip, 1) I still don't have credit for my $1500 tickets, 2) I still don't have a username/password for these stupid "member only" fares, 3) I keep e-mailing them without response, 4) I have tried four different times to call their 800 number for their customer support, was put on hold for 30 minutes, then I had to hang up so I wouldn't get reported for being on the phone for extended periods of time while at work since they do NOT open on weekends.

All in all, they only have PUBLISHED fares which means that if you look hard enough, you can find the SAME deals through a legit company that does not make you jump through hoops and pay yearly fees in order to get treated like crap. I do NOT recommend becoming a member of bestfares.com or using their service to book any trip. But what do I know? I'm only out $1500 + membership fees + service fees + taxes that I'll never see again.
