I bought a $325 gift card at the Best Buy in Lubbock store. I used the gift card online to purchase an XBox 360 Pro for my nephew who lives in Corpus Christi. In a perfect world, I was going to order it for pick up in the Corpus store by my sister. Unfortunately, I listed MY name as the billing information and not my sisters. I saw this information on the confirmation screen of my purchase.

I immediately called the Corpus store who directed me to call 888 BB to merely have the name changed from my name to her name.

That was wrong. The only option was to cancel the order and reorder once the money was back on the card ("within the hour", or change the order to be shipped to her house... which would have been more money for shipping.

Reluctantly, I decided to cancel the order since the money would be back on the card "within the hour"

I placed the order 12/20/2008 at 1:32 PM. The order was cancelled at 2:13PM same day...

It has been 35 hours, I have now been told the following: "within the hour", "give it a couple of hours", "can take up to 12 hours", "sometimes it can take up to 2 weeks"

What is the answer? By the way, the last representative that told me to weeks.... hung up on me.

I want my money back for the cancelled order within minutes of the purchase.

Next stop: FTC... It's CHRISTMAS!

After speaking to the manager on Sunday which only knew a few sentences: "I apologize for any inconvenience"... "no, all we can do is file a case"... "no, there are no other options"... My favorite was "You will have to just work this out with Headquarters" WOW. A manager really told a customer to file an executive complaint against her own company! Incidentally, the "outside-of-the-box" resolution was exactly what I asked the manager to do: replace the lost gift card money and cancel the empty gift card! My issue was resolved in the first call to Headquarters within 30 minutes! I was sent a promotional coupon for the amount via email which I used online to reorder the XBox. My sister has already picked up the present and my nephew was excited!
