Hello everyone,

I bought a computer in October '99 at Best Buy in Charlotte, NC

(University area). I returned it twice. I was offered a wonderful deal on an 'Open Item' Compaq computer 'Internet Bundle'. I was informed that they sales rep was refunding my original computer and ringing up this really sweet deal. I thought it was a really sweet deal, until I started getting my bill and waiting for the refund to be applied to credit card.

The credit never appeared.

I returned to the store and gave the manager my receipts to explain what had happened. The manager left Best Buy and lost my receipts. I mailed a letter to Household Retail Services to get resolution in May 2000 (after I had paid the cost of my computer). I never received a response from them either. Their collections department started calling. I informed them

that the balance was in dispute. This went on until November 2000, when my account was handed over to collections without any attempt to resolve my dispute of the balance owed.

To this day, this issue remains unresolved with a blemish on my credit profile. Don't buy from Best Buy with anything other than cash unless you are willing to undergo the old bait and switch. Which is the devil to catch until months later when the bills start coming in, especially if the purchase was deferred. I am now owed so much money by Best Buy/Household Retail Service, I am still paying them because of interest charges and

late fees.
