Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
Sandra Davis and Spike Andrew of BCR Property Management in Blacksburg are true slumlords. Three friends and I rented an apartment from BCR back in 2001. The apartment was in bad condition and infested with cockroaches-- this was the condition before we even moved into the apartment. Of couse, we didn't know about the roaches until AFTER we moved in.

In the beginning of 2006, my former roommates and I recieved a letter from Spike which said, "Your rental account from 2000-2001 at XX St. has a past due balance of $558. Please be advised that unless this balance is paid within 5 days of the date of this letter, BCR will have no other option than to file a warrant in debt for this amount." Now I'm reading this and I'm like, if I owe them more than $500, why did they wait to contact me nearly FIVE YEARS LATER?

So the letter goes on and basically they try to SCARE me into paying or they will ruin my credit. What a pathetic way to run your business. BCR rents mainly to college students. College students are prime targets for companies like BCR and BCR is good at scamming students out of money for things like taking $100 out of your deposit money to repaint a sink. Really, who paints sinks? Oh yeah, scumbag slumlords do. Anyway, what's really sad is that they're trying to scam me nearly five years later when I'm no longer a student, have money, and might be trying to buy a house.

I hope BCR has stopped trying to scam people in this way, but I have to admit, it's probably easy money so I'll bet they haven't. I mean, how easy is it to see who's lease ended within the last five years (before the statute of limitations has run out) and send her a letter saying, "You owe BCR money. We're not going to say WHY you owe this, but if you give us money, this will all go away." After I got the letter, I wrote them and asked, "Why do you think I owe you $558?" So they sent me a damage report. Well this report means nothing because almost all of the damages were present at the time I moved in! Can I prove it? No, and I DON'T HAVE TO. Why? Because this is a BS scam. And they know it. So if this happened to YOU, don't send them money because you probably owe them nothing. If you choose to respond, tell them that if they don't stop harassing you, you will file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, attorney general, Mr. T and the A-Team, whatever. But don't let the scumbag slumlords win because they know what they're doing is wrong and they will back down if you show some common sense.
